The GM Authority Take

Cadillac XT5 sales continued to grow year-over-year as GM addresses production issues in order to get supply to meet demand.

Overall, Cadillac supply was over 60 days in January but dipped under 60 days in February. Many automotive sales organizations, such as the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA), consider 60 days supply as an optimum inventory level.

From a brand standpoint, Cadillac has been ranked as the third-most considered luxury brand for the second consecutive quarter, edged out by Lexus and BMW in second and first, respectively. This suggests that many Cadillac models are in higher demand than there is supply.

About Cadillac XT5

The 2023 Cadillac XT5 receives few model year changes, including paint color changes. Additionally, the Cadillac User Experience infotainment with embedded navigation and the Bose Performance 14-speaker sound system becomes standard on Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels.

The Cadillac XT5 was introduced for the 2017 model year, with a model refresh following for the 2020 model year. The XT5 will soldier on largely unchanged for 2024, while a next-generation Cadillac XT5 is destined solely for China.

During the GM Investor Day event last fall, GM President Mark Reuss said, “This is for China only, as we move Cadillac in the United States to an all-electric brand. The XT5 is still a very high-volume segment in China, and we’re going to do that with a new design language interpretation, both inside and out.”

2024 Lincoln Nautilus Reserve Jet Package

However, Ford recently debuted an all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus as a Cadillac XT5 rival. It features an all-new design inside and out, including a bold exterior styling language and a completely overhauled interior. Ambient lighting, along with crystal-inspired details, can be found through the cabin, along with a massive new screen display that spans from pillar to pillar. Furthermore, the Lincoln Rejuvenate sensory experience can be enhanced with a digital cabin air scent system, offering a choice of three fragrances.

The 2024 Nautilus offers two powertrain choices – a turbocharged 2.0L gasoline engine and a hybrid setup that pairs that engine with a 100 kW electric motor. By comparison the 2023 XT5 is offered with a choice of two pure internal combustion powertrains – the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine – but no hybrid option.

2024 Lincoln Nautilus Reserve Jet Package

The XT5 has continued to outsell the Nautilus since Lincoln introduced it for the 2019 model year, when it replaced the MKX. As GM focuses on EV models for the U.S. market going forward, we’ll have to wait and see how the current XT5 fares against Ford’s new model and the rest of the field. Over the past few years, the XT5 has generally remained about mid-pack in the luxury D-crossover.

    1. This clearly shows demand and it makes me angry that gm can’t get their act together. Who cares about electric blah blah blah. If the xt5 would be up to date imagine the sales. Look at genesis, they build stunning cars, are building dealers and soon will overtake Cadillac. Gm will fail quite soon. The end is near for them and their beloved brands.

  3. I have zero interest in a crossover, I guess I will drive a fancy truck, since GM won’t build a sedan.

    1. GM has already stated there is a new Malibu coming, and Cadillac is still making the CT4 and CT5 sedans. If you truly want a sedan from GM, let them know by buying one.

  4. Wow, your article titles are so misleading. Yes, it outsold those you mentioned, but it is 6th in the segment with 4% market share. The five models above it had from 7 to 24% market share.

    1. Agreed! And Cadillac getting beat by Volvo screams bottom of the barrel dead brand walking. Wow, XT5 beat old man pathetic Lincoln. I’m just not impressed.
On another note poor Stelvio. Alfa is actually a great driver’s brand and Stelvio is the only premium SUV I’d consider
