Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Prices Are Coming Down

Used-car prices for the high-performance Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing are finally dropping after a long period of significant markups over MSRP, though some still carry prices well above the new price for their model year.

Low supply and long waits to get a new vehicle have helped drive Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing used car prices to very high levels. Now, with inventories improving, it’s getting cheaper to purchase one of these luxurious, exclusive cars.

For some listed CT5-V Blackwing units, the price has dropped by as much as less expensive vehicles cost to buy new. One 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing saw its price reduced by approximately $49,000 in the first 55 days after its listing, dropping from over $198,000 to $149,000 at Ed Morse Bayview Cadillac. The vehicle is barely used, with only 20 miles on the odometer.

Other examples show smaller price decreases, such as a 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing in Electric Blue (color code GMO), a $625 paint option for the model year. Driven only 2,383 miles since it rolled out of the factory, the vehicle’s price dropped $5,369 in the first 42 days since it was listed by Mike Anderson Chevrolet Of Chicago:

A third Blackwing listing, this one by Genesis Cadillac in Michigan for a 2023 model in Radiant Red Tintcoat (color code GNT), one of the four exterior paint colors added for the model year, saw its price drop by $9,888 during the first 42 days of listing. Once again, mileage is very low at 620 miles, as can be seen from the image here:

For comparison, new 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing prices start at under $100,000. GM sets MSRP at $92,390 for vehicles with the standard six-speed manual transmission option and $95,565 for those equipped with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission. Both prices include the destination freight charge of $1,395.

Back in October 2022, used Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing sedans were selling for $130,000 on average, within a typical range between $115,000 and $150,000. This represented a $40,000 markup customers were willing to pay at the time to obtain this rare and highly desirable vehicle. About 40 CT5-V Blackwings were on offer across the U.S. at the time on Cars.com.

As recently as February 2023, several dealers still offered three 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition sedans for sale in the $132,000 to $142,000 range. These vehicles are equipped with the 120th Anniversary package (RPO code ABQ), priced at an additional $10,000 and including:

  • Commemorative sill plates
  • B-pillar builder plate
  • Unique commemorative shifter medallion (with 6-speed manual transmission only)
  • VIN Serialization of commemorative year between 1902 and 2022

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is motivated by the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which produces 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.

As long as the Blackwing prices stay high, my 2016 CTS V will still be worth more than I paid for it 4 years ago.

Soon we’ll get 25% off on the incredibly inflated MSRP and 0% financing for 84 months. The chip shortage in now turning into an oversupply.

As long as there is some idiot in the market willing to pay incredibly inflated prices, dealers will keep posting significant markups over the MSRP. The old saying of “buyer beware”, should now be “buyer get smart”.

I’m through with Cadillac. Ordered a regular V in Jan 23 and now it is 7/16/23 and no one can tell me why the vehicle has been sitting in Toledo since 19 April. I think they are holding back ordered cars to sell all the crappy ones they have in stock. Pages of Silver, Black, and White ones available but who wants one of those. They can keep them all now. Got my deposit back and said goodbye! If they don’t want my money plenty of other car makers do!1
