One could make the argument that, at the end of the day, cars are little more than a collection of metal, rubber, and plastic. However, for some folks, these machines mean a whole lot more than that, especially when it comes to cars like the Chevy Corvette. And that’s exactly why watching this C1 Corvette fall off the rear of a trailer is so painful.
Recently hitting social media, the video is brief and to the point. However, all it takes is a few seconds for everything to go very wrong for this poor little Corvette.
The opens with a C1 Corvette rolling back from the top shelf of a double-decker car transporter. The Vette appears to be finished in Almond Beige, and the polished metal gleams in the sun as it slowly moves backwards.
Although details are not provided, it looks as though the video was captured by the vehicle owner, who is likely eagerly anticipating the arrival of their gorgeous C1 Corvette. As we watch the Vette slowly roll back, we see the vehicle transporter standing next to the driver’s side door, watching as the rear tires approach the edge of the lift.
The transporter appears to be keeping his hands on the door of the sports car, maneuvering it with his hands. However, the Corvette starts to pick up speed as it approaches the lip of the lift. We see the driver’s side rear tire lift slightly as it rolls over a wheel chock. The transporter tries desperately to hold the vehicle from going over the edge, but by then, it’s too late.
As painful as it is to see, the C1 Corvette drops straight down onto the pavement. The front hubcap pops off, and the trunk pops open. Ouch.
All in all, the transporter definitely should have taken additional precautions. Either way, we hope the Vette wasn’t too badly damaged.

First time I haven’t seen them put a chock down in this situation, those big higher end transporters always do. That sucks, easily could have been avoided.
?? uh, there was a wheel chock down. Maybe you need to watch it again, left rear tire hops right over it.
Ya, but the time it got to it ,the vette had a running start ,to ride over it.
C’mon man!!! Sounds like someone we know.
i’ll say it, Bidumb
Geez! Heard stories about new cars falling off transporter but an old classic is sickening. Wonder if it’s totalled?
Good to always record the delivery at least.
Someone’s getting fired and I’m glad it’s not me!
Just plain INCOMPETENCE. !
What an idiot. Hope this hot-shot gets what’s coming to him. Now we all know which company NOT to hire to transport a valuable ride.
which company is it, can’t make it out. Don’t be skurred to say it.
That ‘62 won’t be traversing Route 66 anytime soon.
Let Buz and Tod know that their Corvette needs some repairs.
Wheel choc, vehicle in park maybe?, Tow chains to hold in place. Why did the vehicle have to be rolled back out of the truck? Doesn’t the lift go up and out? I have so many questions. I would have been pissed too. Like the guy said why did he order the truck if the driver was just going to let it get damaged anyway. Crazy…
Apparently you don’t know much about how these trailers are constructed. The elevator is on the rear of the trailer, not on the inside. If you look closely, there is a wheel chock in place. The idiot unloading the car just had it rolling too fast so that it rolled over the chock. That’s what happens when you’re in too big a hurry.
I should have worded my comment better before posting because I knew it would get ripped apart. You’re right. I don’t know how these vehicle delivery trucks work which is why I had question marks. I can’t afford classic luxury vehicles and have never had a vehicle delivery. So I was curious as to why this happened. That’s all. I’m 52 years old. I appreciate a nice classic car and was just curious as to why the vehicle was not secured to something. No harm. But you could have explained it to me better. I would have understood. Thank you for your explanation. I learn something new every day. I’m sure you do too. Again thank you for explaining.
Steph, just pretend you are back in high school, that seems to be the level of diplomacy here. Anyhow, you can learn something new, just don’t let that part bother you.
Nothing wrong with my answer. If anything, you might have phrased your questions better.
I said that didn’t I? I believe I said that I should have worded my question better. I even thanked you for your valuable information. I even said that I learn something new every day. Yet you still came back and instead of saying you’re welcome or giving further explanation you’re still digging. I’m done with this. I hope the company provides better training and I hope the owner gets his car fixed if it’s salvageable. Done. Over. Finished. Have a great day.
