Ford has just pulled the sheets off the redesigned North American-spec 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, which will stand as the third-generation luxury crossover’s first model year. Set to launch in the United States sometime in the beginning of 2024, the all-new Nautilus will serve as a direct rival to the 2024 Cadillac XT5.
The 2024 Nautilus will be offered with the choice of two powertrains. These engine options include a turbocharged 2.0L gasoline engine, rated at an estimated 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, and a hybrid powertrain, consisting of a turbocharged 2.0L gasoline engine paired with a 100 kW electric motor. The hybrid drivetrain develops a total of 310 horsepower.
In regard to transmission options, the ICE drivetrain is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid system is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
On the exterior, the all-new Nautilus features new front and rear fascias, complimented with bold styling language. A hand-crafted grille design is positioned front-and-center, along with new LED headlamps. H2 Pixel Headlamps are also available.
The biggest development is the completely overhauled interior. Ambient lighting, along with crystal-inspired details, can be found through the cabin, along with a massive new screen display that spans from pillar to pillar. The Lincoln Rejuvenate sensory experience can be enhanced with a digital cabin air scent system, offering a choice of three fragrances.
“For more than a century, Lincoln has been recognized for its exquisite design and craftsmanship, and as we look ahead to the future, we reimagined the cabin experience and what the sanctuary can become for our clients,” Lincoln President Dianne Craig was quoted as saying. “The 2024 Nautilus will elevate our portfolio and offer our global clients an all-new, compelling SUV with connected experiences and features that make it just as fun to drive as it is to relax in.”
While the outgoing Nautilus is built in Oakville, Ontario, alongside the Ford Edge, the 2024 Nautilus will be built in China, as the Oakville plant will be converted to produce EVs.
As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 will serve as a rival to the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. The 2024 model year will be the last one for the crossover in North America, although China will receive an all-new generation of the XT5.
That being said, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 will be offered with one of two engine options. These powerplants include the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.
No matter the engine choice, every XT5 is equipped with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission as standard, while drivetrain options include either FWD or AWD.
Under the skin, the XT5 rides on the GM C1 platform, while production of the 2024 XT5 is scheduled to kick off in June 2023 at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

Much better than I was expecting. The shape is very nice. Too bad Ford styled the new Edge so ugly or might would be rooting for it to be imported also. The screen is overkill. Depending on reviews, might stop be from considering it.
I love how this thing looks!
but…….
that screen………
Good looking design, looks like Range Rover Sport.
Reality check:
You’re right in that Lincoln hasn’t had an original thought in decades.
Chinese Styling. Meh
Love the screen…very cool.
I think the outside looks very nice. Glad it has the painted wheel arch moldings finally.
However, I have zero clue how that dash was approved! I was looking at the pics on Carscoops earlier and they showed pics of the interior with a guy behind the wheel. If you look at how he was sitting and the placement of the wheel, it makes that dash look extremely high and intrusive . The wheel looks quite low and everything just looks goofy. Huge pass just due to the dash if I actually wanted to drive a box.
Where’s the usual built-in-China fury?
I don’t want to read any more complaints about the Envision.
Ford isn’t making it in China because it has to, they are just being greedy. Envision is made in China because there is no other way to pay for electrification.
IROC Z:
So you’re saying GM does it because it HAS to, and Ford does it because it WANTS to?
Very cool. Lightyears ahead of the xt5.
But light years behind the Lyriq and will be extinct by the end of the decade.
Ha! Competing with the XT5 for 1 year, and in 2025 the XT5 will no longer be available in the US. Hybrid makes a lot of sense to me to transition eventually to EV. Cadillac on the other hand pulled the plug completely on ICE in 2025 so have fun searching for charging stations Cadillac drivers when traveling long range. Looks like my 2012 SRX will be last Cadillac in our family.
It’s a winner all day long. I can’t seem to find a GM hybrid, can you?
Mick 1:
Sales of Luxury (or in Lincolns case, Near-Luxury) hybrids can be counted on your fingers and toes. This is the main reason that this and many future Lincolns will be built in China. Volume. Or more specifically, the lack of it in the US. The same reason the CT6 is no longer sold here.
The steering wheel looks small, similar to what they did on the Saturn ION back in the early 2000’s, people didn’t like the “chicken pot pie” little steering wheel and it was replaced with a regular sized wheel from the Cobalt in a year or two.
How can a Nautilus be a. XT5 rival when it has a 2.0L 250 hp compared to a 3.6L V6. that has 310 hp. I expect GM will soon stick the 2.7L 4 cyl in the XT5 and it has abb CB lot of torque
XT5 will not be sold in the USA after 2024 model year is complete.
I hate to admit it, but the Lincoln Nautilus is looking pretty good to me. When the lease is up on my 2021 Cadillac XT5, I probably will consider the Lincoln. I hate to switch brands after 42 years of loyalty and 19 new Cadillacs, but Cadillac is clearly not interested in maintaining its loyal customer base. Its become a Chines company. I wonder how many people in China will remain loyal for 42 years and buy 19 new Cadillacs.
The Nautilus is “Chines” as well…..
Well,if GM doesn’t wave its magic wand and reverse its decision on the XT5 going to China,I will be considering this vehicle.
Frank:
Even though the Lincoln is built in China?
Well, that’s true is a hard choice. GM is selling us out to China on the XT5 plan and I like this size vehicle.
If something goes sideways with China which is a pretty good bet it will no More Nautilus or any other China made vehicle. Stupid move in my opion!!!!!!
A step backwards for me as far as styling. The silly door handle design lifted from the old defunct Continental makes the side profile look gimmicky and like something is missing and the grille looks like something from a Chinese knockoff. And that god awful dash.
The Xt5 is as ugly as the new Nautilus is good looking. lol
Just to add a bit of irony to this story, when I scrolled down to read the comments, I had to scroll past a news blurb announcing that the XT5 sales increased 45% outselling both the Nautilus and Genesis GV70 in the 1st quarter 2023. Nice to see that GM corporate has a good understanding of what the public wants to buy….oh, wait a minute, they are discontinuing the sales leader after 2024… GM takes gun and shots self in foot yet again.
