GM Authority has covered a wide array of 2024 Chevy Silverado HD units undergoing testing by GM over the past few months, from a Red Hot LTZ unit to a High Country example painted in Black. Now, GM Authority spy photographers have captured another 2024 Silverado HD, and today, we’re taking a deeper dive into this Work Truck (WT) in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.
This specific unit is a Double Cab, Long Bed configuration, spec’d in the work-oriented WT trim level, and is painted Summit White (color code GAZ). Notably, this is the first truck we’ve captured that’s configured in the Double Cab body style. In addition, the badging on the side of the hood and the regular-sized exhaust pipe tell us that this heavy-duty pickup is powered by the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine.
It’s also worth noting that this 2024 Silverado HD is equipped with the optional WT Convenience Package (RPO code PCV), which includes the EZ Lift power lock and release tailgate (RPO code QT5), tinted windows (RPO code AKO), rear-window defogger (RPO code C49), cruise control (RPO code K34), and power trailer mirrors with heated upper glass and manual extending/folding (RPO code DBG).
Up front, we see the revised front fascia design, along with a black front grille and front lower valence. A gold Chevy Bow Tie is mounted front-and-center, while the front tow hooks are also painted black.
As for rollers, this unit is wearing the optional 18-inch Silver painted steel wheels (RPO code PYT).
Moving around to the side of this 2024Â Silverado HD, we can see black mirror caps, black door handles, black beltline moldings, and the optional three-inch tubular black off-road assist steps, LPO (RPO code S6L). Notably, this feature is normally not available on the WT trim level, but is optional on Custom, LT and LTZ trims.
Out back, we see a black bumper that includes the GM CornerStep, while the optional Chevy Multi-Flex tailgate (RPO code QK2) houses a center-mounted Chevy Bow Tie badge. A Silverado hard badge is oriented in the lower driver side of the tailgate.
As a brief reminder, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD will continue to utilize the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine as standard fare, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax remains optional across the entire trim lineup, updated for the mid-cycle refresh to develop 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. As far as transmission choices, all units will be equipped with the Allison-branded ten-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Production of the refreshed Silverado HD officially kicked off in February 2023 at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan, and in March at the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

Double cab, long bed……….You idiots design the worst pickups…….Make a top-of-the-line single cab short bed….PLEASE!!!!!!
You want that in a 2500-3500 HD? Or did you miss that part of the article?
I’ve got a 2022 2500 HD single cab LT Z71. I mainly wanted to use it as a small, powerful workhorse and it’s got plenty of the features I want. I can’t begin to describe how big of a pain it was to get. Dealers won’t/can’t order one because they don’t get allocations for single cabs since everyone wants the giant luxury SUV with the tiny bed on the back. I imagine if you could order one, you’d be waiting a very long time for it, since its an extremely low volume build. There is no possible way GM would ever build something like a single cab, standard box High Country or Denali HD size pickup. In my opinion the design of the single cab, long bed HD looks really good; the front end and cab are almost equal to the back half, giving it a really awesome look. A lot of people don’t even realize it’s an 8′ bed. I can’t imagine the way it would look with a short bed.
On the HD trucks the “short bed” is 82.25in or 6.85ft. The long bed is 98.27in or 8ft. The single cab is only available with the long bed. We see a lot of single cabs in WT trim painted white rolling down the assembly line. These are usually fleet sales.
Yip, need two slap in a 454 wrap them up be there tomorrow to pick them up.
GM builds the configurations that sell. I keep reading how everyone wants short bed std cab trucks but the reality is that they arent being built now because the sales figures were so low.
The same is true for low content base trucks, The people that say they want them only buy a new trucks every 25 yrs or so. If they sold well they would be on the lots.
