2024 Buick Envista Preferred: The Base Trim

So far, GM Authority shed some light on the 2024 Buick Envista Avenir and 2024 Buick Envista ST (Sport Touring) trim levels. There’s only one more trim level left to cover, so today, we’re taking a closer look at the base 2024 Buick Envista Preferred trim.

The 2024 Buick Envista trim lineup, from bottom to top, consists of Preferred, ST, and Avenir. The Envista Preferred is positioned as the entry-level trim, offering owners a satisfactory combination of premium features and an affordable price.

On the exterior, the entire 2024 Envista lineup features Buick’s latest design language, which draws inspiration from the Buick Wildcat EV concept. Highlights include a long wheelbase, a crossover coupe roofline, and LED checkmark lamps placed high in the fascia. The Preferred trim features a simple front fascia design, along with black wheel arches.

As for rollers, the Preferred rides on standard 17-inch aluminum wheels, while a standard Watts Link suspension system provides the dampening.

On the inside, the cabin is highlighted by 19 inches of combined LCD screens, including an eight-inch diagonal driver information center. An automatic climate control system, flat-bottom steering wheel, and cloth with leatherette seats are standard in the Preferred trim.

All 2024 Buick Envista variants, even the Envista Preferred, feature the Buick Driver Confidence ensemble of safety and driver assistance technologies as standard, which contains the following:

It’s worth noting that the Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert features are also available as an option.

In regard to powertrain, all 2024 Buick Envista models will be equipped with the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 136 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The GM six-speed automatic transmission will serve as the only transmission option.

Pricing for the entry-level 2024 Buick Envista Preferred starts at $23,495, including the destination freight charge. Production will kick off May 2023, with online ordering set to begin later this summer.

  1. Sad how back in MY day, 17 inch wheels were considered to be big. Now look, the (perfectly fine) 17 inchers on this base model Envista appear tiny, and the simple silver finish conveys “RENTAL” in an inescapable way.

Preferred has a good list of standard interior features, especially for the price. Maybe if those 17-inch rollers had a different, 2-tone finish (machined face with gray background, for example) they would not broadcast their trim level position so loudly.

Of course, gm wants people to buy more ST and Avenir trims. This is a typical practice of all manufacturers.

    1. I have to reply to myself, as I’ve become enlightened to the fact that a good looking machined/dark charcoal 18″ wheel is optional on the base Essence trim. It livens it up perfectly!

  2. Sure looks like an econobox, especially with those 1970’s style alloy wheels. Pathetic.

  3. Sad that Buick is becoming an imported vehicle brand.

  4. The Chevy Trax in the article below this one looks much more upscale in comparison.

    1. Well, that is a Trax Activ, one of two top of the line trims. The base model Trax, with its plastic wheel covers as standard, looks way more “downmarket”.

On the other hand, both of these entry-level gm (still can’t get used to lower case) vehicles seem packed with features that even a few years ago, were reserved for luxury marques.

  5. This POS is downright ugly. This is a Buick in name only. Please keep it in China. The US doesn’t need another econobox. Still looks like a Ford Ecosport or Escape.

    1. Well I think it’s built in South Korea, which is an ally of ours, not a sneaky adversary, like China.

      1. It’s actually built in Mexico, at least about 95% of it. I think it’s a very sharp vehicle with a sporty attractive profile. Love the long stretched wheelbase with coupe looks and long nose. Most SUV/crossovers look cut off in the back with a flat ass. This has character. Reminds me of a Porsche Cayenne or European model.

  6. Where will these be imported from? I know they are made in China, but are the ones coming into the US from South Korea? Will these be like the Envision – Chinese imports?

    Reply
    1. No, they are made in Mexico. The parts content is 97% Mexico.

      1. Buick Envista, Buick Encore GX, Chevrolet Trax and Chevrolet Trailblazer are all manufactured in South Korea. Buick Envision is made in China.

  7. Why cant America’s car manufacturers build a stylish good looking sedan that americans would love to drive…. all I see are boxes with wheels attached to them with horribly high price tags. what is wrong with this world..?

  8. This small Buick is BLAND in every way ,the Trax will outsell it easy 30 to 1 starting with the front blah grille and boxy front end design !

    1. Styiling is pretty pedestrian for a Buick in my opinion and echoing the opinions of others here, those wheels look very first generation aluminum wheels and don’t do much to enhance the vehicle.

  9. Not even an engine upgrade available from a turbo charged lawn mower engine. How long can these little engines be pushed going up hills? The consumer will be the test dummy hopefully head gasket doesn’t fail.Won’t be giving to your kid for college when your done with it.A throw away cookie cutter (car) thing.Buick owners want bigger engines that last like the 3.8 engine rated #1 by mechanics for people who don’t by high priced cars every 3yrs.I currently have 2 Buicks on my driveway 3.5L& 3.6L engines over 100 k going strong.Let’s start with 2.5L .

  10. To the naysayers of this Envista: if you don’t dig it, fine. To those that do like its flow then so be it.
To each their own. Stop whining. Time will tell how this Buick does in the marketplace, how much the buyers like it, or not! ♐

  11. Pretty sad that’s the best design that can come up with for a Buick , I would pass

  12. Looks more upscale than the higher priced ST trim except for those cheap 17″ wheels. They could have at least gave them a two tone look with painted pockets

  13. I’ve driven a Trax LS and an Envista Preferred .
I honestly can’t tell the difference ride-wise , and that any appearance advantage is in the eye of the beholder .
I’d go $22k towards a stripper 2024 Preferred in a $495 color , which is generous considering there’s so many 24s unsold ( and on lockdown) with 2025s in the pipeline .
