2023 Cadillac Escalade Illuminated Cargo Sill Plate Currently Unavailable

Standing as the third model year of the luxury full-size SUV’s fifth generation, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade received just a few updates over the preceding 2022 model. Now, sources familiar with the matter tell GM Authority that the Escalade is currently unavailable to order with the illuminated cargo sill option.

Designated as an LPO, or dealer-installed, option, the illuminated cargo sill plate (RPO code 5RU) feature cannot be ordered at this time on the 2023 Escalade.

Normally available for an extra $495 as a standalone option on all trim levels across the Escalade lineup, the unavailability of the illuminated cargo area sill plate means that the LPO-level Illumination Package (RPO code PDW) is also under constraint. The package included (relevant RPO code in parenthesis):

  • Illuminated cargo sill plate, LPO (5RU)
  • Front and rear illuminated door sill plates, LPO (S0M)
  • Cadillac crest puddle lamps, LPO (S3I)

The Illumination Package is normally a $1,095 option on Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels, while not offered at all on Premium Luxury Platinum, Sport Platinum and Escalade-V trims.

As of the time of this writing, it’s unclear as to when the illuminated cargo sill plate and illumination package will return.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade is offered with three powerplants choices. The first two engine options include the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V is exclusively offered with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which is rated at 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque.

Under the body panels, the Escalade rides on the GM T1 platform, while production takes place the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  2. Week and week another posting of restraints on ordering ESCALADE , sill plates today, then rear windows power up, steering wheel lock, wheel rims, radiant package, super cruise. Then the factory noticed they produced some 2000k Escalades with the wrong steering wheel wood trim. Now if I ask you, who’s minding the store? Apparently Mary has all her focus on the new EV Lyric. Production is dependent on all the parts to produce a finish product. This is the result of poor management and it begins at the top. As long as GM shows a profit no one of the board of directors cares. GM is in bed with China, but that could all change overnight and leave GM abandon. ‘Mr. Biden, can I get another bail out”

  4. It’s not like they are selling 100K Escalades per model year and they can’t manage their vendors or venders can’t keep up on this extremely profitable model? Wow!
