2023 Buick Enclave vs 2024 Mazda CX-90: Dimensional Comparison

Mazda unveiled the first-ever Mazda CX-90 earlier this year, debuting a new flagship three-row crossover for the Japanese automaker. Offered as Mazda’s more-premium large utility vehicle, the Mazda CX-90 makes for a good rival to the Buick Enclave, and as such, we’re comparing the sizing for both models with the following GM Authority Dimensional Comparison.
To note, we’ll be taking a look at the exterior dimensions, interior dimensions, and cargo dimensions for both crossovers, placing all the important numbers side-by-side for easy reading.
Exterior Dimensions
First things first, let’s look at the exterior dimensions for both models.

While I love a well styled vehicle, I dislike it , when it impedes vehicle intended purpose. Styling vehicles is mostly a lost art on today’s units, but style them without out affecting their purpose in their given class. Furthermore, no true body on frame truck. Should have a cabin that looks like it was designed for a CUV!
Hopefully offering the 2.7 in the next gen will help.
We own a 2022 Enclave it is an extremely comfortable ride and handles nicely with room to spare.
True form and function.
Holy cow, those numbers truly make the Buick look like the clear winner in any way you look at it. Kind of makes me wonder what the heck Mazda was thinking by bringing out a brand new vehicle that is just not very competitive in the areas that are supposed to be super important for this segment. But then I reminded myself that I work at a Mazda store and how stubborn and nuts Mazda is when it comes to doing things their way no matter what. That, plus the fact that they refuse to compare themselves to any American brands, thus blocking out an important competitive segment.
My opinion? The Buick looks much nicer and probably drives better to boot. On top of that, the Mazda comes with the gross non-painted black plastic all over the bottom and around the wheels, making it look much more cheap. The only way to avoid this is to go all the way to the top and spend well more than the Buick.
Except, the CX-90 Turbo S Plus has more power with its twin turbo-charged inline 6 and its rear wheel drive dominate AWD system. I’m torn between the two. With the Mazda, I would be giving up significant cargo space.
I Love the Buick Enclave My favorite car on the road! Wish I could afford one lol!
I’d have to sit in and get a feel of both of theses but, just from pictures the mazda interior looks better. Which is the only win for mazda on this comparison.
The Enclave is heads and tails better than the CX90 in design, functionality and cache. Mazda will have an advantage with performance and handling which customers in this class of vehicle hardly care for but want a complete package by the end of the day.
Where I work, we just got the first two CX90’s in. It’s impressive from the front, ok from the side and rear. It certainly looks better with the top spec trim and all painted trim instead of the black trim. We got two white ones: one with the all painted trim and a price nearly $60K and the other premium plus (with black trim) for nearly $55K. Wheels look nice and the overall appearance of the top spec model is quite nice. That one also has the wood (wood-like) trim inside that looks better. But there’s where the vehicle begins to fall flat. The Buick interior is superior in materials and design. And for being an inline turbo 6, the HP and torque are not that impressive. However, till I actually drive one, I’ll leave it at that. But between the price, lack of better usable interior room and interior materials/dash/screens that scream low budget, the Buick is the winner in my book.
