This 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS is offered as the grand prize in a new giveaway sponsored and administered by New Beginning Children’s Homes. New Beginning Children’s Homes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide long-term residential care and provide foster children with a safe, family atmosphere in which to heal, grow, and be loved. The non-profit charity organization is hosting this sweepstakes as a fund-raising effort, and offering this near-new 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS as the grand prize.

With only 620 original miles on the clock, this unrestored 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS was sourced from a museum collection and is in pristine condition, with just one owner since new. With its distinctive squared-off front fascia, blacked-out grille, rear deck spoiler, and red striping, this Monte exudes ‘80s style front to back, and that theme continues into the cabin with the bucket seats, maroon upholstery, and race-inspired instrumentation.

As for the powerplant, you’ll find this 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS running the 5.0L V8 High Output engine, rated at 187 horsepower when new. Output reaches the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Further details include 3.73:1 gearing, the F41 sports suspension, power disc brakes, and air conditioning.

Now, this 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo is up up for grabs in a new sweepstakes. Every donation enters for a chance to win. GM Authority readers can enter promo code GM0323N for added bonus tickets. The deadline to enter is April 25th, 2023.

  1. Very cool. Had a silver w/ burgundy interior with T-tops. Always wished it had a manual transmission. End of the rwds.

  2. Great cars and very stylish. Wish we still had choices like this to buy today. When GM killed these and the B-bodies off they lost a good part of their soul!

  3. Fantastic car, back when Chevy built cool cars! In 2002, I gave my wife the choice between a new SS Monte or a 2-door Grand Am GT, she picked the Pontiac. It was a great car too.

  4. I still have 87 aero coupe. I LOVE IT.

  5. That was a great platform. I drove an ’83 Malibu police spec (305 CID) on highway patrol for years and found it to be a great handling car with a comfortable ride, and an overall good looking, practical body design. Its top end was a little lacking for the high speed runs, but that was about its only shortcoming. It makes me question just how far we’ve come since then.

  6. Seeing this makes me miss the ’85 SS I had… These were fun car for the time!

  7. Very partial to second and later generation Monte Carlo’s due to front and rear anti-roll bars as standard equipment. Sporty handling, no extra charge.

  8. My first new car was an 85 SS that I ordered. White with the burgundy interior. Ordered radio delete since I didn’t much care for the GM stereos at the time. Loved that car and of course I wish I still had it.
