Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD owners who want more performance from their gasoline-powered pickup can turn to Whipple and its new supercharger upgrade for the GM 6.6L V8 L8T engine.
The new Whipple supercharger upgrade is available for Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD heavy-duty pickup trucks between the 2020 and 2022 model years, adding in an extra-large dose of torque under the hood. The blower also includes several customization options for enhanced under-hood visual appeal.
Whipple’s new supercharger for the GM 6.6L V8 L8T engine features a 3.0L twin-screw design, with a 112mm front feed inlet and cast-aluminum intake manifold. The charge air is kept nice and dense thanks to an oversized air-to-water intercooler with a bar-and-plate design and billet 6061 T6 tanks, plus super-high-density fins. The blower also includes a large dual-pass heat exchanger for consistently cool temps. A high-flow water system, billet idler plate, and adjustable idler system round out the highlights.
Properly installed and configured, the new Whipple supercharger boosts output to a claimed 700 pound-feet of torque. For reference, the GM 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine is rated from the factory at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. Impressively, the new Whipple blower is also 50-state legal (MY2020-2022 CARB EO #D-231-79), and is said to provide solid fuel economy when keeping your right foot out of boost.
The kit includes an HP Tuners RDT flash tool to reprogram the computer, as well as a VCM scanner for data logging and tire / axle adjustment. The new Whipple supercharger is shipped as standard in textured black, but is available in “any custom color option” if desired, with a selection of rendering images showing silver, red, green, blue, and yellow finishes as well.
Full pricing information for Whipple’s GM 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine supercharger is still forthcoming. Order options are expected this coming May.

Then, you will need the appropriate transmission !
And a driveshaft, and possibly a beefed up rear end, it is the weakest link that will go when stressed.
Awesome.
All 2024 HD’s are equipped with the Allison. You should be good.
I like this. Wish I have a 2020 to 2022 truck.
Win the lottery ! Then you will be all set !
Be awesome for a street car.
Steve, It’s the ford and gm codesigned 10 speed with the Allison name.
Joe, that information is not correct. While Ford & GM did co-develop the 10 speed in the light duty trucks. GM designed the Allison 10L1000 transmission in house and Allison signed off on branding, after it passed their testing. It is not similar to the 10 speed in the 1500’s other than it has 10 speeds. GM has gone on record as saying “The Allison 10L1000 HD transmission is All-New”
The 6 speed in the 2500’s is rock solid
I wish Chevy would take the 6.6 gasser and throw a beefed up twin screw supercharger on top basically like a bigger Escalade V engine and drop in the meteor truck they’re working on since they’re taking about widening the body anyways. That would definitely touch 800hp to the rear tires if it was in a half ton pickup and be an actual dinosaur killer something worth $100k. Someone correct me if I sound stupid with this proposition.
