The automaker’s Mexican subsidiary announced that the upcoming 2024 Chevy Captiva will benefit from notable design, equipment and safety changes that will mark the first refresh of the three-row compact crossover in Mexico specifically. In fact, the most notable revision to the 2024 Captiva will consist of updated front and rear styling that will make the SAIC-GM-Wuling model a better fit into Chevrolet‘s utility portfolio.
During the GM Mexico Annual Dealer Convention last week in Las Vegas, Nevada, the company presented a white 2024 Chevy Captiva unit with an updated design as one of the launches planned for this year in the Mexican market. In particular, changes include a slimmer, frameless grille with black chrome accents, larger LED daytime running lights, and a new bumper with aerodynamic moldings.
Unlike the 2022 and 2023 Captiva based on the Baojun 530 in China, the unit unveiled at the event reveals that the 2024 Chevy Captiva will instead be based on the Wuling Almaz RS – a variant of the SGMW crossover that is marketed exclusively in Indonesia. As a result, the Mexican-market 2024 Captiva’s appearance will more closely resemble that of the units sold in other Latin American countries, but with various adjustments.
The 2024 Chevy Captiva’s cosmetic enhancements will also include an updated liftgate with a gloss black horizontal trim that connects to the new LED-powered lamps, as well as revised rear bumper trim. The updated interior includes the latest version of SGMW’s infotainment system on a 10.4-inch touchscreen, along with perforated leather on the dash and seats. Additionally, the 2024 Captiva is safer with six standard airbags, a 360-degree camera system and additional driver assist features.
The upcoming 2024 Chevy Captiva with its revised design will officially arrive in Mexico during the second half of the year, aiming to strengthen its solid position as one of the best-selling crossovers in the Latin country. The powertrain will continue to consist of the turbocharged 1.5L engine that develops 144 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to a continuously variable automatic transmission.
