Here’s Our Best Look Yet At The 2025 Cadillac XT5

The 2025 Cadillac XT5 will introduce an all-new second generation for the midsize crossover, debuting revised exterior styling, an overhauled interior, an updated platform, and more. Critically, the next-gen 2025 Cadillac XT5 will be exclusive to the Chinese market. Now, GM Authority spy photographers have captured the 2025 Cadillac XT5 undergoing testing as a camouflaged prototype.

A spy image of the next-generation 2025 Cadillac XT5 testing as a prototype.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the 2025 Cadillac XT5 as a camo-clad prototype. Earlier this month, an XT5 prototype was seen testing in the midst of near white-out blizzard conditions, but now, we’re getting a far clearer view of the next-gen crossover thanks to these new images.

Up front, we see this 2025 Cadillac XT5 prototype running a set of vertical placeholder headlights, with the production model set to introduce a set of redesigned lights. This prototype model is also showing us the grille mesh design, with the front fascia likely incorporating similar styling elements as the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4.

The wheels appear to be the same multi-spoke, silver-finished rollers equipped by the 2025 Cadillac XT5 prototype spotted earlier in the month. Meanwhile, the rear fascia looks as though it will incorporate several styling changes, including new lighting elements, as previewed by the vertical placeholder elements seen here. Also notable is the trapezoidal exhaust treatment.

In terms of sizing, the next-gen XT5 will be more or less identical to that of the current generation. Inside, however, the cabin space will be overhauled, with this prototype showing us a new digital display behind the steering wheel that stretches into the center stack, a similar layout as that of the updated Cadillac XT4, although the two screen layouts also differ in several ways.

Last year, GM President Mark Reuss confirmed that the 2025 Cadillac XT5 will be exclusive to the Chinese market, while a more recent GM Authority exclusive confirms that GM China will be responsible for the crossover’s development. Under the skin, the next-gen XT5 will ride on the GM C1-2 platform, which is basically the second iteration of the GM C1 platform underpinning the current generation.

Meanwhile, the current-generation Cadillac XT5 will carry over for the 2024 model year here in the U.S. Production of the 2024 Cadillac XT5 is set to begin in June, per another GM Authority exclusive.

  1. Just kill fwd based platforms. Jeez

    1. Why? They are far superior in many way and 95% of the people who shop this car class (CUV’s) has zero knowledge or care which wheels are driven.

    1. She has been doing quite the opposite over the last nearly decade running it. Profits are up, sales are great, products have been steadily improving, stocks are positive which is way better than the other manufacturers. So please explain how she is heading down that path when her performance in relation to her peers is quite the opposite…

    1. Leased SRX, and two XT5 Cadillacs. 2025 we are ready for the 2025 XT5. What happens next? This popular model for GM is going to be available only in China? What the heck, BRILLIANT Business MOVE folks.👎👎😵‍💫

    2. Exceptionally ugly, on my aesthetic standards.

It may sell well in China because buyers there may not be as sophisticated and discriminating as American buyers of luxury cars.

  5. Just more confirmation that Cadillac is abandoning its loyal customer base. I wonder how many people in China have bought 19 new Cadillacs over the past 42 years…I have and I bet there are a number of people who have bought as many or more.

    1. GM is abandoning all of its loyal base. They let the Camaro become more stale than a cracker. No premium luxury sedan other than an overly expensive, guzzling barge. No SUV’s that can compete with Mercedes, let alone Hyundai. A Chevy pickup that was once super reliable, now plagued with cheap lifters and pushrods and a suspect transmission. And to top it off no answers for the Bronco or Wrangler, just an expensive Equinox. Hopefully they’re profitable with the battery powered crap.

  6. Don’t really care what the XT5 looks like or how it performs as it will be a China only vehicle…it’s like rubbing salt on the wound for us folks that want to continue to purchase Cadillac ICE vehicles after 2025.

You might be thinking of the XT3? The XT5 is US made and is sold in the US.

      1. I’m talking about the article on the 2025 XT5 which will be ONLY manufactured in China and NOT available in the USA. I know the 2024 will be available for us here but will be the last ICE XT5 for the USA. Bad, bad news for folks that don’t want to purchase an EV Cadillac, but it is what it is.

  10. This is the most passionate I’ve ever seen people be about the XT5. If only this was reflected in actual unit sales every quarter, then the LYRIQ wouldn’t exist.

I still think the real answer was hybridization instead of full-on BEV, then again I don’t make the big bucks at GM

  11. Devoe Cadillac in Naples Florida has 200 orders for Cadillac Lyriq. That’s one dealership. The demand for the new Lyriq is off the charts. 70% of Lyriq buyers are not driving a Cadillac. In my humble opinion, GM is starting to hit on all cylinders. They are soon to introduce an EV smaller than Lyric. In 2024, The Escalade will have an EV variant. Just because I can’t afford an Escalade doesn’t mean their isn’t a market for it. I drive an xt6. Best car I’ve ever owned. GM is going to transform Cadillac into a much more relevant brand. There will be ICE Cadillacs available for years to come. The Lyriq is a well reviewed vehicle. They will have trouble keeping up with the customer demand. They haven’t had that problem with Cadillac since, I don’t know, 30 years. The global Auto business is extremely competitive. GM is going to lead in EV. Tesla has the Model Y and model 3, and a couple small volume nitch players in model x and model S. Step back and look at what GM is doing. They are investing big in their ICE vehicles, while bringing out 20 new EV variants for the US. Soon Tesla will be a nitch player if they don’t develop a portfolio. They just can’t have one or two that sell well because they are the only game in town. The model Y and 3 wont do well when the customer has alternatives that actually have more than an iPad interior. If you compare the Lyriq, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV to the Model Y and model 3, GM will win a large share of customers. They still are investing in their ICE variants. An example, in 2025 GM will have a complete redo of their ICE trucks with all new power trains. Look what they are doing with ICE sub compacts. Check out the ALL NEW CHEVY TRAX, AND TRAILBLAZER. LOOK AT THE ALL NEW ICE BUICK ENVISTA, AND ENVISION. THESE FOUR VEHICLES ARE 2024 models that will be sold in 2023. LOOK AT THE PRICES. THE Buick Envista is a gorgeous IC vehicle with a base price under $24,000. Google it. They made big changes on the Cadillac XT4 interiors and front ends. Much improved. The company that Michigan depends on is investing $35 Billion in their product line by 2025. GM is gaining share in ICE vehicles in the US. They will redo the large SUV ICE vehicles and bring out all new EV variants. They are the Truck leader in the U.S. in 2022 GM sold 1,200,000 trucks and large SUV’s in the US. They have 70% of the large SUV ICE market. They opened an all new BrightDrop plant and are producing EV delivery Vehicles. Walmart has given GM an order for 5,000 BrightDrop EVO 600, and 5,000 EVO 400. They have 25,000 EV delivery Vans on order so far from FedEx, Verizon, on and on. Hertz placed an order for 175,000 EV vehicles. It will be split among many of GM EV models. Oh, by the way, how about Cruise. GM bought Cruise a few years ago for $1Billion dollars. It had 4O employees. Today it has 2,000 employees, Mostly engineers. Walmart, Honda, Microsoft invested Billions in Cruise. Today Cruise is worth $30 Billion, and GM owns 80%. In the first qtr of 2023, GM sales were 16% up over last year. Toyota was negative, Honda negative, Ford Negative. GM is running the table. I could go on, but my fingers are tired. GM is years ahead of Ford in the EV race. By the way, their stock is a steal. If it wasn’t for the cloud of some future recession that seems to never come, I’d bet the ranch on GM. When this thing takes off, hold on to your seats. That stock is going to skyrocket. I’ll be onboard. They will become one of the biggest growth stories in the global Auto business. Oh, by the way, the CEO of GM has a Masters in business, and a bachelors in ENGINEERING. MARY Barra is a super star. BEST CEO IN THE AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR IN OUR LIFETIME.

  12. Engineers fell short from the SRX performance trim, is still more attractive than the newer models since then . Chrome on the suv then yo put Nickel wheels , and the wood interior is not shiny and why would you put suede on a roof top of the Platnium trim . Should have just left the colors alone.

  13. I have read this article about the 2025 XT5 being excusive to the China market. Other online sites have made reference to changes to this strategy. The US will be getting a 2025 XT5 and most if not all of the changes that where addressed in the 2024 XT4 will be features on the 2025 XT5. Curved dash, updated front sheet metal. I will wait .

  14. XT5 has been the best selling Cadillac. It was an aesthetically pleasing piece of art, in and out, with superb driving quality, roomy interior, and was easy to park in tight urban spaces.

Based on the pictures presented, the version for the Chinese market looks quite ugly. Hopefully, it will not replace the current American market version anytime soon.
