Here’s How Many 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 Units Will Be Built

The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV got its big debut in April of the 2021 calendar year, revealing a new boxy body style in parallel to the Hummer EV Pickup. The GMC Hummer EV SUV initially launched with the Edition 1, and now, a rough estimate of how many units of the GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 will be produced has been revealed.

According to a recent report from Automotive News, production of the GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 will be limited to “about 2,500” units.

The Edition 1 features standard 22-inch premium wheels, assist steps, and floor liners, as well as all-wheel steering. Motivation is sourced from a three-motor drivetrain and 20-module battery pack, providing a maximum 830 horsepower and more than 300 miles between plugs. Pricing for the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 starts at $105,595. The rest of the lineup includes the EV2, EV2X, and EV3X, with pricing starting at $80,395, $90,395, and $100,395, respectively. MSRPs listed include a destination freight charge of $1,995 for EV2, EV2X, and EV3X trims, and $1,595 for the Edition 1.

GM is no longer accepting reservations for either the GMC Hummer EV SUV or GMC Hummer EV SUV. The automaker was holding roughly 90,000 reservations total as of September 2022, with reservations steadily rising throughout the 2022 calendar year. Critically, 75 percent of reservation holders are new to the GMC brand, with the majority of customers living in California, Texas, or Florida. Additionally, 70 percent of reservation holders are first-time EV buyers. Most of the reservations are for the Pickup body style, with reservation percentages split between 60/40 and 70/30 in favor of the Pickup.

As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV features GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motor technology, with the GM BT1 platform providing the platform. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

  1. Hummm 90,000 reservations and 5,000 supposedly manufactured… So the last of those will get their vehicles in 2038 !! Only 15 years away.

They’ve made more LYRIQs of course but I only saw one at the dealership last year at GM’s ‘Big Expert’ travelling road show.

Any ‘Grid’ trouble is surely not exacerbated by GM products…. I’m still waiting for my replacement BOLT battery also, let alone the EPIC wait for a LYRIQ.

    1. Bill Howland: GM is in transition in battery types from pouch types to rolled Lithium round tube cells like Tesla. This is a giant move by GM. So it has put everything out further.

BTW: I’ve been in Phoenix, Arizona the past few weeks. Project EAGLE is feverishly underway with a fast track build (completion) of one year, of a 20 billion dollar chip manufacturing plant just off Interstate 10 in South Phoenix near Maricopa. Big quick national reaction to the chip shortage, and as a backup to the Asians in the event they pull the rug out from under us. Being built by Hoffman Construction Co., the GC. Owner will be Intel. Really glad to see.

Samsung is also building two new chip plants in the Phoenix area. Huge workforce here in Phoenix now with 5.5+ million souls in the valley and a magnet for folks wanting to live in sunshine and a warmer climate. Year round golf and baseball.

      1. GM isn’t transferring to cylindrical cells. And if they are 3 of their 4 Ultium plants will still be pouch.

      2. How did you miss the TSMC chip factory on the 17 between Carefree highway and the 303. They will start production in 2024 TSMC Arizona’s first fab, which is scheduled to begin production of N4 process technology in 2024, the Company has also started the construction of a second fab which is scheduled to begin production of 3nm process technology in 2026.

Lipstick on a Pig. You must own much GM stock since no one can defend the idiocy coming out of gm lately.

It is obvious to anyone looking that gm is failing production at multiple levels.

The definition of Engineering is to plan a program of complete manufacturing with pencil and paper PRIOR to the first shovel of dirt moved.

Meanwhile, gm CANNOT run even a multicolored paint shop. As an example I am getting an extra cost black vehicle differing from my Contractual Order, simply because no other color is offered.

And idiot management Cannot clearly state whether it will be a 2023 or 2024, which is extra dumb since they are both the same car.

Think about how Nonsensical that is.

Meanwhile the Chinese seem to have little trouble obtaining Paints, or purchasing Batteries.

  2. Short run. GM cautious. Still in beta testing. Good game to play. Whole new beast.

  3. I have not seen the Hummer SUT on the road but had seen one LYRIQ at nighttime but they are coming and there is hope that you will see both of them on the road by the end of the year.

  4. Aside from the fact that the push for electric vehicles is ENTIRELY political, and not in any way good for the environment (seriously, google the energy and strip mining requirements to go electric)….
The slow rollout of these obscenely expensive status symbols for rich people (subsidized by the back breaking labor of us little guys via taxes) is HILARIOUS.
I predict GM will only make 900 of these this year with lots of work stoppages that GM’s press office will be suspiciously silent about. Just like Ford with the lightning.
