Well I give Buick/GM credit for not forcing AWD on someone who would want the Avenir trim. I fully understand people living in certain areas where they would prefer or even need the AWD, but to force it on everyone (Ahem, Mazda I’m talking to you!!) is just wrong. For where I live I don’t need or want AWD. I don’t want the extra expense, maintenance or lower MPG. So my hat is off to Buick here. The base MSRP for the Avenir isn’t too bad either at just over $33,000. My only thought there is that the Avenir should come with the Tech and convenience packages as standard. Those are fairly high priced option packages for the “top” trim to have as optional.
Reason I am only referring to the Avenir trim is because it’s the only one I’d consider since I hate the black plastic the rest have all over the wheel openings and bottom. Plus, the Avenir trim in that blue color makes that new front end look a little better.
Don’t forget the $1500 OnStar forced on you as a standard feature.
Mick1: According to what I’ve been told and what I can figure based on going to the sites and building vehicles for fun, they aren’t putting that on as an option and showing the price as such. Apparently they are building it into the prices of the cars and it’s then included for the amount of time listed.
I don’t feel they handled this well from the start and I don’t agree with them pushing it on us. But is this really any different from paying more for these things because everyone thinks they need wall to wall screens? Or the built in Alexa? Or any of the other many things that many of us don’t want but the few within the market drive upon us?
GM is no longer adding OnStar to Buick-GMC models other than the top-level trims. From Automotive News: “GM to stop forcing $1,500 OnStar subscriptions on all Buick, GMC buyers. After requiring every buyer to pay for three years of OnStar Premium since last summer, GM is making the safety and connectivity service optional again on all but the top trims of Buick and GMC vehicles.”
Be ready to spend 50 to 60k, also this vehicle is 4500 lbs so do not plan on loading this Buick up and expecting V-8 performance !
Ah, what????
Ok jossch, this shouldn’t be rocket science. Here’s what I get using the numbers above that they gave us to see. Top trim (Avenir with AWD), adding the tech and convenience and huge sunroof (probably popular options and to make it fully loaded). Adding those 3 things to the top trim with AWD gives me $38,980. Now that is quite steep IMO for this car, but not even close to your “spend 50 to 60K”.
Then to look up your claim about being “4500 lbs”, I just Googled it and here’s what I found. “as the GX only weighs 3,025 to 3,273 lb.” Again, a far cry from your 4500 lbs claim.
So, my question to you is this. Why did you post what you did? I’m dumbfounded and truly wish to know.
