As America’s sports car, the Chevy Corvette has quite the expectation to live up to. Usually, this presupposition is expressed by comparing horsepower figures, 0 to 60 mph times, and handling attributes against foreign rivals. However, an often overlooked aspect of the ownership experience is the presentation of the vehicle. With this in mind, GM recently released a video detailing the Corvette Museum Delivery experience.
Intended as an effort to elevate the Corvette experience, GM offers new customers the opportunity to take delivery of their brand-new Vette right from the factory. Owners are given a variety of items to commemorate the event, such as a custom-inscribed plaque and a picture-book demonstrating the build process of their particular vehicle.
Tagged with RPO code R8C, this experience is priced at $995, and is available with the purchase of any Corvette model.
It’s worth noting that the National Corvette Museum recently resumed public plant tours after they where suspended in 2017 amid plant renovations.
Currently, this delivery experience is offered for the C8 Corvette. Prospective buyers have the choice between two C8 flavors, the C8 Stingray and the C8 Z06. The 2023 Stingray is powered by the 6.2L V8 LT2, rated at 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, while the 2023 Corvette Z06 is powered by the high-revving 5.5L V8 LT6, rated at 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. As for transmission options, both high-performance machines are equipped with the GM eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.
As for structure, all C8 Corvette models, including the upcoming hybrid 2024 Corvette E-Ray, ride on the GM Y2 platform. Production takes place exclusively at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

Great idea but not new, Gm offered this to employee buyers back in the 70’s. My cousin picked up his new Caprice at the factory.
Very impressive. The Corvette people there will treat you better than your own family. At least my family.
I’m sure if you paid your family the amount of money that corvette customer paid for his personalized car experience…..your family would probably treat you better as well! Those corvette delivery guys are being paid to cater, and to be nice to you to sell the brand, and the experience. Its all a show. Smoke and mirrors.
In my case, $995 would be a better investment with the Corvette people. Besides, you are getting one helluva car for what they charge.
Had the opportunity to watch as my friends Dave and Jonese Sloan picked up their 70th anniversary addition. The museum staff were just OUTSTANDING. I listened as the staff member went over every aspect of the car. Followed them home in their support to Florida. Got just about all of the break in requirements in during that trip. My thanks and congratulations to the museum staff .
My wife and I flew into Tennessee. We rented a car and drove one hour to Bowling Green Kentucky. We turned our rental car in at the museum and took 3 weeks to site see and drive our brand new Corvette all the way home to Roy, Washington. Washed the bugs off every morning and looked forward to more driving. Got thumbs up and WOW comments every where we went. Even at traffic stop lights. Probably should’ve got a ticket in every single state. Some states the posted speed limits on the freeways are 80 miles an hour. The only people that are doing 80 are the big trucks as most people are at 100 and 115+ and so were we. When we got home, it went to the dealer for its first oil change. It was the best vacation trip I have ever been on, and would do it again in a heartbeat, and it all started at the Corvette Museum.
Looks like a beautiful experience to commemorate your Corvette delivery. However, given a choice between a Corvette Museum deliervey with the extra options (custom-inscribed plaque and a picture-book), and a Ron Fellows Corvette Owners class. I chose the latter.
The NCM delivery and touring the plant would have been nice. But I highly recommend the Ron Fellows Corvette Owners Class. So much fun!
Maybe GMA should write an article about the Ron Fellows Corvette Owners Class.
