The Chevy Corvette won the “Segment Model Loyalty Award” for 2022 in the Luxury Sports Car division of the 27th annual Automotive Loyalty Awards presented by S and P Global Mobility.
According to a press release from the automotive research firm, purchase data from calendar year 2022 was used to determine the winners, both overall and in each model segment. Loyalty is determined by existing new vehicle owners subsequently buying another vehicle “of the same make, model or manufacturer,” S and P Global Mobility says.
The Chevy Corvette repeated the same segment win it made in the 26th annual Automotive Loyalty Awards last year in February 2022 for the 2021 calendar year. It was also one of five Chevrolet models that received a 2022 Segment Model Loyalty Award.
The other four nameplates that won the award for their division are listed below, along with the segment in which they achieved first place for loyalty.
- Small Utility segment: Chevy Equinox
- Full-Size Utility segment: Chevy Tahoe
- Heavy-Duty Pickup segment: Chevy Silverado 2500 and 3500
- Small Car segment: Chevy Bolt EV
GM also won the “Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer” award in the same awards process from S and P Global. This represents the eighth consecutive year GM took top place in the Automotive Loyalty Awards.
It was also the 19th occasion GM was the leading automaker for loyalty in the previous 27 years. This makes The General the annual customer loyalty winner more than 70 percent of the time over nearly the past three decades.
As a reminder, GM produces the 2023 Chevy C8 Corvette in two variants, the Stingray and the Z06. The Stingray is powered with the 6.2L V8 LT2 engine as standard, developing 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the Z06 is motivated by the 5.5L V8 LT6, which is rated at 670 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
The upcoming 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray, which debuted on January 17th, adds the first-ever hybrid-powered variant to the Vette lineup. The E-Ray features a front-mounted electric motor paired with the same naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 found in the Stingray, which, combined, develop a maximum of 655 horsepower.
A dual-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission (RPO code MLH) connects the E-Ray’s engine to the rear wheels. All C8 Corvette variants – including the E-Ray – ride on the GM Y2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

And what do we get for our loyalty? Nothing.
I am pretty happy with my GM Credit Card Loyalty Points.
I am pleased with my 2021 C8 Z51 2LT. Ordered to my specifications.
Exceeds every expectation. Paid MSRP.
Same here , with my 2023 but have yet to drive it. I live in Canada and finally got mine in January. 🙁 Way too much snow etc. This baby stays in the garage, till streets have been swept clean and potholes filled. Been testing it, buttons , modes etc., though, wow , this is futuristic. Cannot wait for good weather.
You need to move.
‘Way to’ go!! …’Makes no $en$e what$oever to pay $$$$$ more than MSRP (window sticker price)…
‘Seen so many stories about some dealers charging $50K to over $100K ABOVE the MSRP for brand new C8 Corvettes.
That’s totally ridiculous!
GM is testing my loyalty with not being able to produce my 2023 Z06 that I’ve been waiting for like 2 years now, yet they give them to YouTubers who turn around and flip them just check EBay and Auto trader
waiting 2 years? When did Z06 production start?
Loyalty? Hell yeah. Have a 2021 2LT Z51 C8 convertible. Ceramic matrix Gray Metallic with Sky Cool Gray interior, sterling wheels and dual sterling colored stripes nose to tail. 11,000 miles. Would trade it in a heart beat for the exact same color and features in a2024 eRay if one were actually available now.
The C8 Corvette is beyond phenomenal – that’s why it is in such high demand and hard to get. To all those commenting about the wait – I waited for my 2023 Convertible too and it was well worth it. Corvette owners and buyers have always been loyal to this brand – well before the C8 Mid Engine platform was delivered. So glad to see that Corvette is getting all this attention in any case!!!
I’m a 9 time corvette owner over 40yrs…Have a 71 & 2020….been on a Z06 list 18 months & not even a whisper….You would hv hoped dealers would have started to weed out the list of those whom hv either lost interest,or with increased prices are now unaffordable to them…
Many of us in identical circumstances have been extremely loyal to GM,and wish GM only extended us the same recognition in return….Just being Honest..
…
Loyalty is a joke. I have owned various makes, including Ford, Honda, Toyota, Chevy, etc. and they do relatively nothing to keep your business. So if your loyal to a manufacturer, fine. But it’s a one way street.
I’ve had more positive purchase experiences with DEALERSHIP loyalty than with MANUFACTURER loyalty…
… but I’m sure that this varies widely with individual situations …
Beautiful black corvette. 2022 with break squeaks after 5,000 miles spent 100,000. Service with a grudge. Brakes still squeaking. First American car purchase. Lexus sc 430 100,000 miles quiet brakes. Service with a smile. I dread taking my car in. Help
I had same brake issue with my 2020….returned twice when car was under 5k… got better for a while, however still occurring with 13kmiles….
Dealer suggested some hard stops, which lasted for a short time…good luck…
