Cadillac XT4 Park Assist Retrofits Under Way

Retrofits of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD5) and the Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD7) are under way on certain units of the 2022 Cadillac XT4 and 2023 Cadillac XT4, according to a dealer service bulletin issued by GM.

GM Authority has learned that these 2022 and 2023 Cadillac XT4s produced without functional park assist due to the semiconductor shortage will now be retrofitted with the correct module to activate the feature.

Ordinarily, Rear Park Assist (UD7) is standard on the Luxury trim level. Front and Rear Park Assist (UD5) is standard on the Premium Luxury and Sport trims.

Units affected by the microchip shortage and the subsequent production of XT4s without functional park assist features include all 2022 model year vehicles produced from January 3rd, 2022 onward. For the 2023 model year, all units produced from start of production up to July 31st, 2022 are affected.

GM placed a special code on the window sticker of the 2022 and 2023 Cadillac XT4 crossovers built without active park assist. The window sticker includes RPO code 00Y if the Rear Park Assist feature (UD7) is non-functional, and includes RPO code 00Z if the vehicle was produced with a non-functional Front and Rear Park Assist (UD5).

The GM retrofit under the same Customer Satisfaction Program applies to several other vehicle models, including the XT5 and XT6 crossovers from the Cadillac lineup and the 2022 Chevy Camaro and 2023 Chevy Camaro from Chevrolet.

Dealerships carry out the retrofit by replacing the currently installed non-functional park assist module with a new, functional park assist module, along with installation of one nut and one fastener in the case of the Cadillac XT4. Dealership service personnel also reprogram the instrument cluster and/or the active safety control module as needed.

Replacing the park assist module in a Cadillac XT4 requires approximately 72 minutes or 1.2 hours on average. It is carried out free of charge.

The retrofit program is in effect for another three years, until March 31st, 2026.

Dealerships notified buyers of affected Cadillac XT4 crossovers about the non-functional Front and Rear Park Assist feature at the time of purchase. Window stickers include the RPO codes 00Y or 00Z to further differentiate affected units. Owners were notified of their vehicle’s eligibility for a retrofit at no additional cost once the necessary parts became available.

Affected 2022 or 2023 Cadillac XT4 owners who have questions regarding the retrofit can call Cadillac’s customer service number, referencing the GM customer satisfaction program number below.

  1. Good luck with this, got my 22 XT4 in February 22, still waiting for retrofit on my heated steering wheel even after GM says retrofits are in progress. Now that Spring is upon us, not much need for my heated steering wheel. GM can say these retrofits are in “progress” but at a snail’s pace.

  2. GM should have done a retrofit on the 2023 Blazer and Traverse models built in November minus park assist. No park assist in the rear bumper but the on/off switch is in the console. Makes no sense. Ordered a $53,000 Blazer Premeir for a customer. They refused to take it and bought a Toyota Highlander. I don’t blame them. I bet Mary would have hit the roof. If something similar had happened to her. GM doesn’t care. They weren’t stuck with the vehicle. The bad thing is, it’s my neighbor. I get to be reminded of it every #%*€ing day.

  3. Traded in a 21 Cadillac XT4 for a 22 Cadillac XT4 March 2022. We were not made aware of the missing chips. 0ur bad for missing it on the sticker page. (However, neither was our salesperson aware the chips were missing!) I basically went backwards. Still waiting on retrofit of park assist AND heated steering wheel. Park assist is very important to us and we still can’t seem to get it. I’ve called our dealership and spoken directly to our service department MANY times this past year. I’ve called Cadillac 2-3 times and not getting anywhere. (We did get the heated/cooled seats, so we were fortunate for that.)
Very disappointed, to say the least.

  4. I would like to buy a XT4 but my wife will not have one with out the front park assist. There is no room to talk on this subject, the simple fact is we have a very short garage and need this item. Our present vehicle has it as did the one before it. We went to the Cadillac dealer to order a XT4 and was about to sign the contract but found out that the front park assist is history. We told the dealer no thanks and they fully agreed with us. We are very unhappy.
