Way back in October 2020, GM Authority reported about the possibility of the Cadillac Lyriq featuring an augmented reality head-up display. Now, the second generation of the Envisics-developed augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD) is set to debut in the Cadillac Lyriq.
Envisics, a U.K. based startup that specializes in developing augmented reality (AR) technologies for automotive applications, has attracted investments from several companies in the automotive industry, including GM Ventures, the venture capital subsidiary of General Motors. This agreement has culminated to the introduction of an AR HUD for the Lyriq, as GM will be the first company to feature Envisics’ second-generation AR HUD technology. However, Cadillac hasn’t yet set a date for the introduction of the high-tech display in its fully electric crossover.
“Our collaboration with Envisics is moving into production this year, as we add AR HUD technology to the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq,” Senior Manager of GM’s Ultifi Design Sandy Lipscomb was quoted as saying. “This innovation will further elevate the driving experience in the Lyriq, adding a second plane of graphics that gives drivers more immersive information integrated within their natural field of vision.”
According to Envisics’ calculations, the AR HUD market is projected to benefit from a compound annual growth rate of roughly 28 percent, thus increasing from 1.6 million units in 2022 to 19.1 million units in 2032.
As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq features a number of updates over the preceding 2023 model, including the introduction of the new power panoramic dual-panel sunroof and entry level Tech trim.
Under the body panels, the Lyriq rides on the GM BEV3 platform, and derives output from GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors. Production of the 2024 model will kick off later this month at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. Pricing for a base 2024 Lyriq in Tech specification starts at $58,590, including the destination freight charge.

So is there any HUD currently available on the LYRIQ?? Stop wasting time on some of these less essential options like an opening sunroof and deliver features that are now standard on many cars, including some of the cheaper foreign cars. HUD is a feature that is far more convenient and useful than an opening sunroof. HUD should be a standard feature in all Cadillacs.
They do “à la carte” option to, and toothpaste roll out to maximize profit.
Really.
Their Y product structure is exactly doing this scheme to maximize profit at the highest trim.
HUD will most probably available to Luxury 3 or Sport 3+ as a 5000$ option. LOL.
But you got my point?
GM aren’t the korean car maker, they are not throwing in “best bang for your buck” type of marketing.
All this technology is great. Would be better if they actually delivered the cars.
Easier to just talk about what you “can” get. Harder to make it reality.
Going to be interesting to see how the Ebonics nomenclature works out for Cadillaq.
WOWWWW!! That sounds Really Racist!! But, Great Job, RICHARD, for allowing your True Self to be shown!!👏
@John Stapleton, the Racist Comment made by Richard may just be entertainment or “a joke,” to you in your own words. A wise person once said, “the truth often comes in the form of laughter.”
By the looks of the first pic, it reminds me of a frame shot of the first year CT6 commercial.
Interesting, I have been following the HUD to come. But this article says it is coming but not 100% sure what year it will be in the Lyriq?
