Nearly two and a half years after the Hummer nameplate revival with the all-new GMC Hummer EV world debut in October 2020, General Motors has just confirmed that GMC‘s revolutionary all-electric truck lineup is coming to Mexico.
The automaker confirmed that it plans to market the all-new GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV in Mexico, which will officially become one of the exclusive ancillary markets for the iconic zero-emission off-roader in the world along with the Middle East and China – where it’s expected to launch this year. In fact, the company points out that the Latin American country was the second largest volume market for the Hummer brand after the United States.
“Hummer has a special place in the taste of customers in Mexico, from 2005 to 2010 we were the country with the second highest sales of Hummer worldwide,” said Marketing Manager for GMC at GM Mexico, Ángel Pacheco. “With the arrival of the new GMC Hummer EV, we reinforce the message that we have the capabilities to build the most powerful electric vehicle and we are sure that it will once again be a success in Mexico,” he added.
In particular, GM Mexico reports that all-new GMC Hummer EV will arrive in the Mexican market in EV3X Pickup and EV3X SUV variants. Both models will offer a full array of technological features and off-road capabilities unique in the segment, as well as tri-motor Ultium Drive setup that generates 980 and 810 horsepower in the Pickup and SUV variants, respectively, with a brutal torque rating of 1,200 pound-feet.
The GMC Hummer EV’s muscular powertrain is fed by Ultium Battery packs, composed of 24 modules in the pickup and 20 modules in the SUV, offering an approximate range of 560 and 480 km (about 348 and 298 miles), respectively. Additionally, both configurations include the innovative Watts to Freedom, Crabwalk and Extract Mode systems that maximize both performance and off-road capabilities.
The all-new GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV will be officially introduced in Mexico during the 2024 calendar year, several months after the full Hummer EV lineup is launched in the U.S. market. The exact introduction date and final details for the Hummer EV in Mexico will be announced closer to the local launch.
