GM officially pulled the sheets on the all-new 2023 GMC Canyon last August, revealing a fresh third-generation for the mid-size pickup nameplate. Properly equipped, the 2023 GMC Canyon can make for a great adventure vehicle, and now, that go-anywhere spirit is highlighted in a new documentary video from GMC.
Dubbed “Finding Nowhere”, the video clocks in at a little over 13 minutes, and features four elite adventurers as they explore rough terrain and remote trails from behind the wheel of the new GMC Canyon pickup truck.
The four adventurers include Overland Bound CEO and overlanding expert Michael Murguia, chef and traveler Adam Glick, outdoor photographer Alex Strohl, and writer / photographer Kalen Thorien. Together, the quartet tackle dirt, sand, and snow, crawling up rocks and fording rivers as the next-generation GMC Canyon gets put to the test.
Indeed, the crew will have to pull out all the tricks to get through terrain like this, including the GMC Canyon AT4X’s front- and rear-facing underbody cameras, which provide a critical view of what’s going on underneath the truck during technical rock climbing and off-roading sections. In the corners, the GMC Canyon AT4X rides on a standard 33-inch tires, providing critical traction in combination with front and rear e-lockers.
This truck also provides plenty of ground clearance, with 10.7 inches of clearance right out of the box. Meanwhile, the Multimatic DSSV shocks keep things stable, while a set of underbody skid plates are in place to keep vital mechanical components safe from any potential hazards. The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X also leverages a 36.9-degree approach angle, 25.0-degree departure angle, and 24.5-degree breakover angle, which is critical for the adventure crew as they explore over the course of several days.
As for motivation, the 2023 GMC Canyon features the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which chucks out 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque in the standard 2.7L Turbo High Output tune.
