2025 Chevy Equinox Caught Testing Again: Photos22
The upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox will introduce a brand-new fourth generation for the crossover, ushering in a long list of changes and updates in the process. Now, the new 2025 Chevy Equinox has once again been spotted testing as a prototype thanks to the following GM Authority photos.
Unsurprisingly, this 2025 Chevy Equinox prototype is covered head to toe in a swirling black-and-white camo wrap, as well as a vinyl sheet around the front fascia. Nevertheless, there are still a variety of interesting details on display.
The front end, for example, shows what could very well be a production grille treatment, incorporating horizontal grille slats that do well to enhance the crossover’s visual width. Slim placeholder lighting elements are mounted in the upper corners of the fascia, below which we see rounded forward lighting mounted on either side of the grille.
The profile view shows off some two-tone wheels that combo silver and black, wrapped in a set of Continental tires. To note, previous 2025 Chevy Equinox prototypes have been captured by GM Authority spy photographers running Firestone tires. The running gear is found under matte black (or possibly unfinished) wheel cladding, indicating that this particular prototype is either a lower-end model, or some more-rugged variant.
That said, this prototype does not appear to be an example of the next-gen 2025 Chevy Equinox Activ. As GM Authority covered back in December, GM is considering the release of a new Activ trim level for the next-gen ‘Nox, applying a suite of active-lifestyle upgrades to the crossover. However, unlike the Chevy Trailblazer Activ and Chevy Trax Activ, both of which are offered as light all-terrain vehicles, the new Chevy Equinox Activ is expected to include more extensive equipment and features, including beefier suspension, more aggressive rubber, a tucked-under exhaust system, and a modified rear fascia for greater ground clearance.
Notably, this particular 2025 Chevy Equinox prototype is equipped with a placeholder exhaust system.
Under the skin, the next-gen Equinox will continue to ride on the GM D2 platform, the same bones as the current model.
Look for the next-gen 2025 Chevy Equinox to debut during the 2024 calendar year.

Well, this is shaping up nicely. The exhaust pipes alone make me want to see more.
It’s hard to tell for sure but it looks bigger. I hope!
It’s a 3-cylinder 1.3 twin turbo with a CVT.
Size wise how it is currently is fine and right in line with the others. The only way we would consider one is if it is a hybrid. Any word if they will add that for this next generation? I heard GM isn’t doing hybrids but hearing recently they use the 2.0 and a hybrid setup over seas got me thinking.
Is this the same shape as the Equinox EV?
Mechanically unrelated, so probably not.
The EV looks pretty wedgy and shorter in height and length by comparison – the ICE version should have better cargo-ability. Hopefully GM doesn’t cheap out on powertrains though!

I have a 2019 which I love, I bet this one is better in every way, too bad its out a year late.
Having 2 totally different vehicles with the same name is such a bad idea. I don’t understand why they’re doing this. They should either not have done a new ICE version, or used a different name for the EV
my question is how will the 2 (different) models be counted in reporting quarterly sales — under one given that it’s the same name or will they spilt them out being that they are two mechanically different models? The same thing about the Silverado and Blazer – two completely different vehicles with the same name.
They will likely count them together so they can shield themselves from revealing sales of the EV versions by themselves.
2 tail pipes showing is interesting does that mean some sort of a 2 litre engine coming back with a little more hp that would be nice instead of the only 1.5 standard engine that only comes in the nox I guess we have to wait and see !!!
Same SUV different sheet metal old underpowered drivetrain all GM cares about is EV they will put themselves out of business with that strategy
So it seems like the side, and 3/4 rear profile look a bit like the current Terrain.
No rear quarter panel window leaves a large limited sight area when parking !
I can all but guarantee that it has a window there, but they don’t want to reveal the styling. That 3rd window usually has more style elements than the others. The camo is probably window perforation material so they can see out just fine.
Thanks SMDHI hope you are right about a nice rear Qtr. window undercover !👍
This is a going to be nice vehicle and I’m sure it’s going to be well received. But we are heading deeper into a rocky economic period and GM has very few affordable new cars to feed their dealers.
They’ve canceled the Cruze, the new Trax is still not out, this new Equinox is a year away. Malibu production hasn’t really scaled back up entirely although it’s improved a bit. The company seems to be prioritizing low volume EV’s and massive, expensive trucks as borrowing costs for consumers continue to climb.
Maybe they should have spent more time/effort on this Equinox sooner.
Hopefully they will offer a 2.0L turbo four with varying degrees of horsepower, will the top line models getting the more powerful version. A good bet that the 9-speed transmission returns, and the 6-speed finally goes away. Should get a version of the new dashboard that’s in the upcoming Equinox EV.
I hope it doesn’t have a CVT.
They need to get on the hybrid bandwagon. Offering just one barely adequate power plant does not make it competitive.
