The 2024 GMC Terrain arrives as the sixth model year for the current second generation, following the fully refreshed 2022 model year and offering only a handful of changes compared to the preceding 2023 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2024 GMC Terrain is set to lose two specific exterior paint colors.
According to GM Authority sources, the 2024 GMC Terrain will no longer offer the Marine Metallic and Desert Sand Metallic paint options.
The Marine Metallic paint option is tagged with paint code GHT, while Desert Sand Metallic is tagged with paint code GTL. Both paint options were offered for the 2023 GMC Terrain, but will no longer be available with the introduction of the 2024 GMC Terrain.
Marine Metallic paint was available on SLE, SLT, and Denali trim levels, but was not offered for the AT4 trim level. Meanwhile, Desert Sand Metallic paint was available on SLE and SLT trim levels in conjunction with the Elevation package. Desert Sand Metallic paint was also available on the AT4 trim level, but was not offered for the Denali trim level.
With the departure of the Marine Metallic and Desert Sand Metallic paint options, the 2024 GMC Terrain will instead offer Riptide Metallic and Downpour Metallic as two new paint options. Riptide Metallic is tagged with paint code GJV, while Downpour Metallic is tagged with paint code GXP.
Per yet another GM Authority exclusive, production of the 2024 GMC Terrain is set to take place in May of the 2023 calendar year. At present, it’s looking as though the next-generation GMC Terrain will debut for the 2025 model year.
As a reminder, the current GMC Terrain cradles the turbocharged 1.5L LSD gasoline engine, with output rated at 175 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 203 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm. Under the skin, the GMC Terrain rides on the GM D2 platform, while production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.

Both paint colors have already been shown publicly. Riptide Blue Metallic is the color shown extensively for the Equinox EV and Downpour Metallic is already being shown on the 2024 Sierra 2500HD – it’s a muted gray-blue.
No more tan, which was a standout among boring, same-ol’ variations on a theme peddled for years at a time. They’re really giving me the blues here.
Jeep and Mazda are similar though, they do a few of the same exceedingly boring colors (unless it’s a Wrangler) year after year. Bleh.
I love that blue.
Indeed, both colours are Beautiful !
