2024 Chevy Silverado HD Offers New High Country Premium Package

GM debuted the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD last September, pulling the wrapper on a full model refresh that includes new vehicle styling, an overhauled cabin, new tech goodies, a powertrain update, and the new Silverado HD ZR2 trim level. Notably, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is also offered with the new High Country Premium package, as detailed here.

Although the High Country Premium package for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD could be considered new for the 2024 model year, it really isn’t all that new, given it replaces the High Country Deluxe package offered previously. Both packages are tagged with RPO code PDM.

That said, the High Country Premium package for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Technology Package (CWM)
  • Sunroof (CF5)
  • Gooseneck / 5th Wheel Prep Package (Z6A)

For the sake of comparison, the High Country Deluxe package offered for the 2023 model year included the following:

  • Safety Package II (PDJ)
  • Technology Package (CWM)
  • Gooseneck / 5th Wheel Prep Package (Z6A)

The big change here is that the content of the Safety Package II (RPO code PCJ), which was previously included with the High Country Deluxe package offered for the 2023 model year, is now fitted as standard across the line for all 2024 Chevy Silverado HD trim levels. Previously, the Safety Package II (RPO code PCJ) was offered as optional for 2023 Chevy Silverado HD LTZ and High Country trim levels.

With regard to the Technology Package (RPO code CWN) offered for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD High Country, content includes:

  • Rear Camera Mirror (DRZ)
  • Multicolor 15-inch Diagonal Head-Up Display (UV6)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG) (new for 2024)

As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is equipped as standard with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, while the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optional, now uprated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque with the latest model refresh.

Under the body panels, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD once again rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

  1. Does it also come with premium reliability or is the same old hit or miss?
