The sixth-generation Chevy Camaro is poised to sunset for the 2024 model year, but before it departs, Chevrolet will offer the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition.
The new 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition will be available in North America for Camaro RS and Camaro SS trim levels, as well as a “limited number” of ZL1-equipped vehicles. The new model confirms an earlier GM Authority report published in September of the 2021 calendar year that the 2024 Chevy Camaro would offer some sort of farewell special-edition package.
For the moment, Chevrolet is keeping a lid on exactly what the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition will offer over the standard Camaro model. That said, the automaker did indicate that the special edition “pays homage to Camaro, resurfacing ties that date back to the development of the first generation Camaro in the 1960s, most notably the program’s initial code name: Panther.”
Although Chevrolet declined to provide additional details, teaser images show the hood of a Chevy Camaro ZL1, complete with ZL1 badge. Another teaser image shows a shadowy profile image of the two-door with a wing-like rear spoiler and multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Orders for the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition kick off this summer, at which time more information will be released. Production of the final 2024 Chevy Camaro models is set for January of the 2024 calendar year. As a reminder, the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro is produced at the GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan.
Chevy also released a brief 1-minute video paying tribute to the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro and its many variants, including both street cars and race cars. Check it out below:
Looking ahead, GM has confirmed that it will offer a next-generation Chevy Camaro sometime in the future. The details surrounding the next-gen Camaro are still unknown, but may include a wide variety of all-electric models under a broader Camaro EV sub-brand “umbrella.”

As a former GM employee, Chevy and Buick lover, owner of 12 Camaros, still have my 1972 Buick GS custom, I find it very disheartening and extremely disappointing the GM has not been able to develop and grow the Camaro Market to its full potential for years now. Overpriced, behind the times, no new enthusiasm for design or the younger generation. They all want Hondas and gutless Subarus. Poor quality, poor service, poor consumer. Compare the Hyundai Palisade and the Cadillac and there is no comparison. I bought the Hyundai. First time I ever ran away from GM. Really sad.
It’s going to be interesting how this plays out. GM has promised that the Camaro is only going away temporarily and will return……but as what? There is some talk about a family of Camaro being introduced, including SUVs, sedans, and some sort of high performance offering, if GM sticks to its plans a new Camaro with a gas engine isn’t in the plans.
If they bring the Camaro back as some sort of high performance electric sports car I just don’t think it will fly, at least with true Camaro enthusiasts, and today’s young just don’t seem to really be car enthusiasts.
As far as a Camaro inspired SUV, we already have the Blazer which shares many Camaro styling cues. It’s not very inspiring IMO. You can slap the Camaro name on anything, just like Chevy did the SS nameplate and all it did was to soil a proud historic line of cars.
It’s sad that Chevy chose to kill the Camaro, but they’ve been slowly letting it die for a few years. Still, it’s going to leave as one of the most loved cars in Chevrolet us stable, ever. I just hope they do it justice when it returns, but I don’t know if that’s possible.
Maybe I’m wrong. Porche, Ferrari, and other exotic car manufacturers have SUVs in their lineup and they seem to be doing well. We’ll just have to wait and see.
