With production of the refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX just around the corner, GM Authority has now learned that the premium crossover will drop three paint colors for the new model year.
The 2024 Encore GX will lose these three exterior paint options (relevant color code in parenthesis):
- Sapphire Metallic (GGK)
- Sunset Glow Metallic (GHD)
- Rosewood Metallic (GHL)
It’s worth noting that these colors were all introduced for the 2022 model year, while the Sapphire Metallic and Sunset Orange Glow shades are already built out for the remainder of the 2023 model year.
These three paint colors will be replaced by three other hues for the 2024 model year (relevant color code in parenthesis):
- Copper Ice Metallic (G98)
- Ocean Blue Metallic (GK9)
- Sunrise Red Metallic (GMF)
As a reminder, the 2024 Buick Encore GX was officially unveiled back in February 2023. On the exterior, the styling has been revised and draws inspiration from the Buick Wildcat EV concept vehicle, as well as reflects similarities in design to the upcoming fully electric Buick Electra E5 crossover. Additionally, the 2024 Encore GX will be Buick’s first North American vehicle that features the new Tri-Shield logo design.
One of the more notable additions to the 2024 Encore GX is the range-topping Avenir trim level. All-new for the Encore GX, this trim level features several unique exterior accents and interior materials, as well as a bevy of technology and active safety features.
On the tech side, the revised crossover receives a long list of available safety features, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam auto high-beams, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control. In addition, the Virtual Cockpit System will be equipped as standard affair.
In regard to powertrain, revisions are limited to new hardware, including a new turbocharger and engine mounts. Besides those details, specifications largely carry over from the 2023 model. This includes the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and the available turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, rated at 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque.
A front-wheel drivetrain is standard and pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while AWD is optional and pairs with the GM nine-speed automatic.
Under the skin, the 2024 Encore GX rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, while production will continue to take place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

Keep the Blue, it is beautiful!
Instead of taking a negative tone with the headline, ” . . . To Lose These Three Paint Colors . . . ” why not accentuate the positive and say “2024 Buick Encore GX To Get These Three New Paint Colors” or “2024 Buick Encore GX Offers Some Different Colors”?
Is the 2024 Encore GX Avenir pictured above the Ocean Blue Metallic? Whatever its name, it does look very nice!
Colors aside….they really took a step back with the exterior styling of this thing. It’s not ugly, but it’s not as good as last year’s model.
Last years model was very attractive. The new one looks like a cheaper version of Kia or a Hyundai.
Unrelated….but I don’t think GM is serious about keeping Buick around in the US. Just such little effort going into those products, and such indifference for their long time customer base. The decision to source Chinese models is very off putting for a lot of potential Buick buyers.
I don’t care for the new badge but the dark red color is nice. Dark red with contrasting black roof combo I’ve seen on a few vehicles works very well. Don’t suppose Buick will offer it.
Did you notice the photos above of the red Buick Encore GX with black trim (and blacked out wheels, etc)? That is the “Sport Touring” trim.
At least the colors were replaced with colors, and not three new shades of silver, or, heaven forbid, beige – er, I mean “champaign gold”.
DO SOMETHING WITH THE GRILL , THE REST OF THE CAR IS VERY NICE, BUT THE GRILL IS TERRIBLE
