2023 GMC Canyon Gets New Deep Bronze Metallic Color: First Look

The 2023 GMC Canyon adds four new exterior colors to its palette: Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Sterling Metallic, Solar Flare Metallic, and Deep Bronze Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Bronze hue.

Assigned RPO code GXN and touch-up paint code WA-135H, Deep Bronze Metallic is one of eight exterior colors offered on the next-generation midsize pickup truck, which include:

  • Summit White
  • Onyx Black
  • Desert Sand Metallic
  • Dynamic Blue Metallic
  • Sterling Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Solar Flare Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Deep Bronze Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)

The Deep Bronze Metallic color is an extra-cost option priced at $495. It is available on all trim levels and can be combined with all available interior colorways.

For reference, here are the four available interior colorways offered on the 2023 Canyon:

  • Jet Black (Elevation)
  • Jet Black/Timber (AT4)
  • Obsidian Rush (AT4X)
  • Jet Black/Teak (Denali)

In August 2022, GM unveiled the all-new 2023 GMC Canyon as the new, third generation of the midsize pickup. Highlights include new exterior styling, an overhauled cabin, a new powertrain, revised suspension, a range of new technologies, plus the first-ever 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X. The new model is available in four trim levels: Elevation, Denali, AT4, and the aforementioned AT4X, offering an exclusive Edition 1 package, which sold out in just 10 minutes. All trims except the AT4X feature a factory two-inch suspension lift, enabling ground clearance of up to 9.6 inches, while a dedicated off-road performance display page in the infotainment system is standard on all models.

The 2023 GMC Canyon also gets a new tailgate-mounted storage compartment, plus new wheel designs up to 22 inches is size and new CoreTec seat material. The new model also continues to offer the Denali Black Edition package.

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X features an extra one-inch lift over the rest of the line for a total of three inches, as well as standard 33-inch MT tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear lockers, underbody skid plates, and an exclusive Baja drive mode for high-speed driving on the rough stuff. Inside, the Canyon AT4X includes an Obsidian Rush colorway with Ceramic White accents. The Edition 1 package mentioned earlier aims to make the new off-road-ready AT4X trim level even more appealing with a variety of exclusive off-road parts and components.

It’s worth noting that the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 gets an optional Off-Road Lift Package to match the three-inch lift included on the Canyon AT4X.

A GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition is still coming and will include a number of important upgrades over the standard, 2023 Canyon AT4X.

Under the hood, all 2023 GMC Canyon models are equipped as standard with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine in the High Output tune rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The boosted four is mated to an updated version of the GM eight-speed automatic that addresses many of the transmission’s shortcomings. The midsize pickup truck rides on an updated version of the same GMT 31XX platform, internally known by GM as 31XX-2.

Production of the 2023 GMC Canyon started on January 24th at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, while the AT4X will go into production in the spring of 2023.

  1. WHY…..Holy smokes yikes, that is got to be the most horrible color I’ve seen on a vehicle oh, and by the way, it’s on factory constraint, lol come on GM authority. Give us some more information on the production and allocation and constraints on these vehicles. When will we see them on dealers lot and get orders filled, still waiting on mine. Anybody have any luck or info on these vehicles? All I keep hearing from the dealer is four-wheel-drive factory constraint I’ve had my order in since the end of December I understand production didn’t start until the end of January but you get the point

  3. They could make them any color and somebody would buy them.
The problem GM has is gettting enough parts to actually build one.
Reminds me of the film Tucker where the guy made a bunch of cars and many of them on display didn’t have motors, stc.
GM has pictures, but they haven’t sopld any.
    There are none available anywhere.

  4. Rob…..I ordered my Denali January 25th white with sunroof, trailering package, floor liners. Was built March 13th with no constraints. Just waiting for release for shipping to dealership. I’m up in Canada. Heuvelman’s dealership in Chatham Ontario. It’s confusing mine can be built and ready when it was ordered a month after yours?

  5. I think it is a unique color fitting for a truck certainly better than white, black, or silver.

What’s with the weird white pieces?
Definitely need better designs for the interior.

The exterior is really well done. The interior not so much.
Yes I like the big display but the rest is awful.
