We Render A Potential Chevy Trax Z71

GM pulled the sheets on the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax back in October, showing off a new entry-level crossover for the Chevrolet brand lineup. Now, we’re reimagining the next-gen Trax as a new off-roader Z71 trim level in this exclusive GM Authority rendering.
Before we dig into this thing, it’s worth mentioning that, as of this writing, GM currently has no known plans to actually develop and sell a new Chevy Trax Z71 model. Rather, we drew up this rendering for fun, just to see what such a thing might look like.
With that, let’s check out what this Chevy Trax Z71 has to offer. First and foremost, we have to pick out this little trail machine’s new stance, which is highlighted by some new wheels and tires. The Trax Z71’s new rollers are from American Expedition Vehicles, (AEV), the same company that co-developed models like the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison, and are downsized a bit compared to the standard wheels, showing off a tough design and a set of Goodyear Wrangler rubber to more easily grip loose surfaces. They also look pretty good under the black cladding in the wheel arches, and complement a slight suspension lift.
The front end of our new Chevy Trax Z71 was also significantly upgraded, and now shows off a high-approach front fascia with a silver “skid plate” treatment along the lower edge of the vehicle’s chin. Housed within the silver plate, we see a set of red tow hooks, while Z71 badging is found in the grille and along the front fenders. Don’t forget the small, round lighting bits placed on either side of the skid plate.
The rear end continues the off-roader theme with another high-clearance bumper treatment, once again with silver accents. The rear end also sports a set of black rear tow hooks, just in case, while another Z71 badge was added to the tailgate.
Critically, all 2024 Chevy Trax models are equipped with front-wheel drive, but given the Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, the same underpinnings as the Chevy Trailblazer, it’s within reason to think that all-wheel drive could be a possibility.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Trax cradles the turbocharged 1.2L I4 LIH gasoline engine as standard, with production set to kick off next week.

Do not gonna buy …
A Trax Z71 with no AWD, heck no.
Not fan of cuv’s with the aggressive tires like the Terrain At4.
It would need AWD.
It would need AWD, which wont happen. Unless of course if GM shifts the Trailblazer to another larger (Colorado) platform.
GM already makes a larger TrailBlazer based on the Colorado, unfortunately they do not sell it in the US.
No pretend 4×4 models.
Can’t do the black wheels.
If this was an SR-71 Blackbird with the flat black it would travel into our stratosphere.
Another SKU nobody wants.
So appearance package only ….
Looks like they want to obliterate / embarrass the Z71 moniker much like they did with the SS badge of the 90’s – 2000’s. Who comes up with this garbage? It is an awful idea!
Jonathan Lopez’s idea apparently. This is not a GM idea.
If Chevy were to offer something with a bit more capability, they’d offer it in Activ trim with a bit more aggressive tires tread. And the reality is that would be sufficient for trails that most people would travel and for snow.
Let’s see a 2WD ZR2 next… LOL
It needs 4WD with a 2 speed transfer case and a baby Cummins! Yeah Baby!! Let’s do some rock crawling!!
