A pair of suspects in a Cadillac sedan jumped over a railroad crossing and barely missed colliding with an oncoming train in a dramatic new police chase video that recently hit the web.
Coming to us from the Auburn Police Department in Auburn, Washington, the video is only six seconds long and deserves a little background. According to the video description, Auburn Police Officers responded to a 911 call at a local business, where an employee stated that a suspect had threatened them with a gun and had run out an emergency exit. The victim stated that the suspect had run across the street and entered a silver Cadillac sedan, promptly driving away at a high rate of speed. The responding officer established probable cause to arrest the suspect on Robbery 1st degree.
Later, two Auburn Police Department officers were traveling west on 15th Street and approached a railroad crossing. The officers stopped their vehicle as the railroad crossing arms descended ahead of an oncoming train. The suspect behind the wheel of the Cadillac sedan, however, continued to drive at a high rate of speed, jumping the railroad crossing and barely avoiding a collision with the train.
Footage of the dramatic near-miss was caught by the police dash cam, and can be seen below:
According to the video description, a pursuit ensued between the Cadillac and police officers. The Cadillac sedan was later located at an apartment complex parking lot in the City of Pacific, with the two suspects opting to flee on foot. One of the suspects was later located in a tree.
After two hours of negotiation, the suspect in the tree climbed down and was taken into custody, but not before they were observed smoking what was believed to be illegal drugs. The suspect later stated that the robbery was to acquire funds for illegal drugs.
All in all, it’s insanely lucky that no one was hurt in this crazy police pursuit.
