Concurrent with the world debut of refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX, General Motors has just announced the mid-cycle refresh of Buick‘s small crossover in Mexico.
The automaker’s Mexican subsidiary took advantage of the 2024 Buick Encore GX’s U.S. debut to announce that it will also offer the refreshed crossover in Mexico. Buick’s most popular model in North America will arrive in the Mexican market with an significant exterior and interior design revisions, a new infotainment system, as well as brand’s new global image and logo.
“The new Encore GX delivers a sleek, sporty, sophisticated presence. The new exterior design creates a more stylish and modern persona that is unique in today’s small SUV segment,” said Director Global Buick Design, Bob Boniface. “Also, the 2024 Encore GX is the first Buick in North America to sport our revamped interior and new Virtual Cockpit System. It’s rare to get such an elevated, tech-forward interior in a vehicle at this starting price,” he added.
A major new addition to 2024 Buick Encore GX is the introduction of Buick’s flagship Avenir trim level, strengthening the model’s refinement and sophistication as one of the most advanced small crossovers on the market. In addition, the 2024 Encore GX also stands out for offering the new 19-inch Virtual Cockpit with the largest infotainment touchscreen in its segment.
Mechanically, the 2024 Buick Encore GX maintains current the powertrain configurations, comprised of the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH engine producing 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, in addition to the optional turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T engine with 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. All versions will be available with AWD, mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission, while FWD variants will be equipped as standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Production of the refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX will start next month at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea, and the crossover will go on sale in the United States in the spring. Kim….I have a 2022 with the 1.3…barely adequate….but another 25 hp would knock it out of the ballpark!
I drove my Dad’s Encore GX Select, ST trim for a while. I have a Camaro ZL1 and a Silverado HC 6.2 – yet I loved driving that Buick. Yeah, if you look at the numbers, you’d convince yourself that the 1.3 3 cylinder is slow or whatever, but in real life driving – even with luggage and people, it moves around just fine. It’s not professing to be a sports car. Quiet, confident, smooth… I drove it through several inches of fast falling unplowed snow, highway conditions through Flint and Lansing Michigan on the way home to Nashville, in AWD. It did fantastically well – I paced myself and had a line of cars following along… I loved that Buick and hated getting rid of it.
It’s a smart vehicle. GM, especially Buick, has the best quality of the Detroit brands. The new design actually suits Encore GX. Not a bad look
Needs the 1.5L engine!!!
Buick missed the mark not offering this as an EV. This is very similar to a Bolt EUV but more upscale which many EV buyers would have purchased. If this were available as an EV, I would have preferred the more upscale vehicle. They would sell well if priced right. EV performance would blow the 3 cyl engine away in performance and efficiently too.
