Here’s When 2024 GMC Savana Production Will Start

Despite a revision for the 2003 model year, the GMC Savana has persisted relatively unchanged for almost 30 years. In keeping to that mantra, the 2024 GMC Savana will not feature any significant changes over the preceding model year, and now, GM Authority has learned when production of the 2024 Savana is expected to kick off.
Sources close to the matter tell GM Authority that the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 GMC Savana van is currently scheduled for September 5th, 2023. Meanwhile, production of the 2023 Savana is scheduled to end on September 1st, 2023.
In a similar fashion to updates from model year to model year, there haven’t been many major developments surrounding the GMC Savana. That being said, the 2023 Savana saw a $5,200 price jump from comparable 2022 models, affecting all trim levels and configurations of the van across the board. This makes the least expensive variant, which is a Work Van trim level in the Cargo 2500 Regular Wheelbase configuration with the naturally aspirated 4.3L V6 LV1 gasoline engine, priced at $39,895. The most expensive variant, an LT unit in the Passenger 3500 Extended Wheelbase configuration with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, comes in at $49,490. It’s worth noting that both prices include a destination freight charge of $1,795.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the GMC Savana, the Big Red’s van is offered in multiple configurations, including the GMC Savana Cargo, the GMC Savana Passenger and the GMC Savana Cutaway, all of which are designed to fill a specific role. Engine options include the aforementioned LV1 V6 engine, which is rated at 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque, as well as the L8T V8 engine, which is rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax engine offered previously was dropped for the 2023 model year, as GM Authority covered previously.
Under the skin, the 2023 Savana rides on the GMT 610 platform, while production kicked off at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri on August 15th, 2022. Notably, the Savana Cutaway is produced by Navistar at a separate facility in Ohio.

I wonder if they even check these comments! Many of us have complained by now on here and they are going on and on about this false production they speak of. Ridiculous!
I dont of any customers getting the 6.6l in 2022. Canadian dealers are telling customers to not even bother trying to order,,I,ve been waiting for my build order now for 9 months! The plant building the 6,6 is running 24/7.. Guess they have to build more P-ups to fill up dealers lot…
Yep the V8 is not getting built. I’ve been waiting forever. Pretty disappointed.
It’s very hard to find a used van and they are going thousands above average price. No thanks. I dint want to buy a 2019 with 100k kms for 45g.
Check with your dealer. I got a production date today. Something is happening.
On a van not cutaway? 6.6L v8?
Passenger van v8
Wow that’s great news! Thanks for the response! I’ll assume you’re in the US. Thank you
Canada. It got built and is on its way!
Wild! You got lucky sir! I’ve called both dealers I’m working with and none so far can get one/or are calling me back. Might have to try a 3rd. Still
Playing the allocation game. Sucks I’ll be paying probably 10k more than the original order.
Waiting 20 months now. On x5 6.6l v8 vans.
I long do I have to keep my old truck running? With all these delays? I may end up just keeping my truck – a Ford diesel because I only have a 100,000 miles on it but I wheely (it’s a car site) would rather have a GMC van with a 6-cylinder diesel in it.
“I long” should be “How long”. Sorry for thinking of myself first! LOL.
Ordered a 3500 Cutaway in December 2022. The cab and chassis has been delivered to Bay Bridge. Just waiting on them to finish their part
Been trying to order a Savana for over a year now. Was told several times by multiple dealerships last year that they weren’t being manufactured. According to GM Authority they were setting new sales records last year. Finally got a dealer to try and order one in November only to find out the V8 is not available. He told me to keep checking back. Was “chatting” on the GM website two weeks ago and was told Savanas would not be available to order until September. Also was told “Build & Price” was only for searching existing inventory. Checked back with the salesman who was helping me this week only to find out he has retired. The Sales Manager there told me he can’t order a Savana until one is allocated to his dealership. Is there a way to get a straight answer from GM???????????
I had to wait over a year, 13 months exactly, to get my 2022 Savana which I ordered in 2021. It took that long for the dealership to get an allocation. And yes it does have the 6.6 V8. You may want to try to write a letter to GM and ask why your delaership can’t get an allocation.
I order on van GMC SAVANA on 2019 and I’m still waiting for this van? why?
I order on van GMC SAVANA on 2019 and I’m still waiting for this van? why?
I went through the same thing when I ordered a 2500 extended cargo with a 6.0. Took 6 months to get it built. My salesman was an all truck sales guy and said they use the same factory and line to build pickups and that’s where they make their money. I got lucky because they received a large fleet order and snuck my build in. Tough to remain a loyal GM guy when it seems they don’t care about the work vehicles and consumers. I see zero cargos on any lots around Detroit.
