GM’s All-New Wuling Bingo EV Makes World Debut In China

The all-new Wuling Bingo EV was revealed last month ahead of its official unveiling, and now, the upcoming zero-emission vehicle from SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) has just made its world debut in China.

General Motors’ second joint venture in China officially unveiled the all-new Wuling Bingo EV, a next-generation model that will further expand the automaker’s strong range of all-electric vehicles in the Asian country. SGMW continues the ambitious renewal of its core brand and looks to consolidate its sales leadership in China’s fastest growing category with the new Bingo EV.

In particular, the new Wuling Bingo hatchback is the first five-door pure electric car developed by the Chinese automaker, broadening the Wuling brand’s lineup in the passenger-car market, positioned above the Wuling MINI EV, Nano EV and Air EV minicars. In fact, SGMW claims that the Bingo EV will offer a very spacious interior for a compact-sized car in order to meet the mobility needs of more customers.

Aesthetically, the Wuling Bingo EV stands out for its retro-inspired design and rounded shapes that give it its own personality within the brand and market. The clean look of the exterior will be offered in four colors, including Iceberry Powder, Milk Coffee White, Black Night and Aurora Green. The Bingo EV’s body measures 155.5 inches in length, 67.2 inches in width and 66.2 inches in height, while riding on a 100.8-inch wheelbase.

Although SGMW has yet to announce it, we do know that all-new Wuling Bingo EV will have a single electric motor mounted on the front axle with two power outputs: 30 kW and 50 kW, equivalent to 40 and 67 horsepower, respectively. In addition, the Bingo EV will have two distinctive 17.3 kWh and 31.9 kWh battery packs that certify a China Light Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) driving range of up to 333 km or 207 miles.

The all-new Wuling Bingo will go on sale in China in the coming weeks, during which the joint venture will progressively reveal more of the vehicle’s details. The arrival of new Bingo in the first half of this year will strengthen Wuling’s leadership as the world champion for small electric vehicle sales, which it first claimed in the 2022 calendar year.

  1. It really wouldn’t work well here, but it makes sense as a small city car. This one is a step up from the Wuling Mini, which only had a 30kW motor and 26.5kWh battery. Only thing I wish was included was the price. The Mini is ~$10,000.

    1. It’s a little bigger than the Chevy Spark. The Spark EV had about 140hp and was a really fun little car.

  2. This EV will not pass Federal safety tests since it will not have every minimum safety feature. So we can only see it as a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle or NEV. It would be too heavy for its small motor if it had all the safety features.

  3. Bring back the Spark……Gas or EV. Best little city car ever.

    1. I could see this as a Spark EV for the US, if they upped the horsepower.

  4. 107 horsepower seems enough. If I remember that is about the same horsepower the original Saturn cars had. I think it could work as a commuter car in a large city.

  5. What is the China Light Vehicle Test Cycle? Seems like a made up test to hide that is will not work anywhere else for that type of range?

  6. Please keep this POS in China!
