The refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain received plenty of changes, updates, and new features for the fifth model year of the second-generation compact crossover. This includes dropping the base SL trim level, making the SLE the new entry-level Terrain, and the addition of the new off-road-oriented GMC Terrain AT4. The 2022 Terrain also received a $200 price increase, raising the destination freight charge, and an additional $250 price increase across the line. On top of those price bumps, a mandatory $1,500 three-year OnStar and Connected Services plan has been added to all Terrain trim levels.
The 2023 GMC Terrain introduces a few critical changes and updates as compared to the fully refreshed 2022 model year, along with its own price increase. Some of these updates include a new engine, which is the new turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD engine, along with an e-boost braking system.
A next-generation GMC Terrain is on the way for 2024 as a 2025 model. During the recent GM Investor Day event held November 17th, 2022, GM President Mark Reuss said that, like the Chevy Equinox, the GMC Terrain competed “in the largest segment in the world,” and that the next-gen model would receive “sort of the GMC Professional Grade upgrade.”
“I gotta tell you, it’s one of the most beautiful SUVs in that segment,” Reuss said. “Again, very GMC, very truck, very Professional Grade, so a big interior and exterior enhancement for the Terrain.”
Production for the 2023 Acadia commenced at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico on August 22nd, 2022. The online configurator tool is live for the 2023 Terrain.
Production of the 2024 GMC Terrain will begin in May and is scheduled to end in October 2024 to make way for the upcoming fourth-generation model.
