Replacing the older turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, the newer 1.5L I4 LSD engine is rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, and pairs with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

Also new for the 2023 model year, and in conjunction with the 2023 Chevy Equinox, the Terrain gets a new electro-hydraulic braking system that replaces the traditional vacuum-assisted braking system. In addition, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Sterling Metallic and Deep Bronze Metallic paint colors have been added to the options list.

As for structure, the Terrain rides on the GM D2 platform, while production for the 2023 model year commenced on August 22nd, 2022 at the GM San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico.
