The 2022 GMC Savana represented the 19th model year of the nameplate. The full-size passenger and cargo vans both ride on the GM GMT 610 platform and offer identical powertrain options, which include the 4.3L V6 LV1 and 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engines.
For the 2023 model year, the Savana and its corporate twin, the Chevy Express, continue with minimal changes, although both dropped the optional 2.8L I4 LWN turbo-diesel Duramax engine. The 2023 GMC Savana also gets a substantial price increase over the 2022 model. For the 20th model year for the workhorse van, the $5,200 price hike is applied across the board in terms of body configuration and powertrain, and includes a $100 increase to the destination freight charge, which is now up to $1,795 from $1,695.
While the Savana and Express and were thought to be discontinued after the 2025 model year, GM Authority learned this month that GM plans to redesign the Chevy Express for the 2027 model year, keeping the ICE powertrain. However, there are currently no such plans for the GMC Savana. Meanwhile all-electric replacements are rumored for a 2026 debut.
Production of the 2023 Savana and Express began at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri on August 15th. The online configurator tool is live for the 2023 Savana, and still live for the 2022 Savana.
Production of the 2024 GMC Savana is currently scheduled to kick off on September 5th with production of the 2023 Express scheduled to end four days earlier on September 1st.

Who’s still buying this van?
Any company who had thoughts of having proly the best work/fleet type van ever produced, i liked the earlier models better, especially the ones that came with the 4.8 w/o the dod on them. I personally work on these for many fleets and engines are extremely capable of seeing 500k b4 needing to be changed. Last time i checked i service around 20 of these and only 2 have had an engine put in them. One of those lost lobe on a camshaft at 475k and the other the driver ran over something knocked hole in oil filter and kept driving it all the others have between 425k and 575k on them. All needed a trans between 200-250k but only one in each so far. Great brakes, good tire wear, easy to work on, doors could be a little tougher, mileage could be a lil better but all in all one of the best ever. Ford had some good ones back in late 90s too.
Hey GMC you should really stop posting false facts about this van! Every time you go to the dealer they don’t have a answer on why I can get my van I ordered!False advertising is really starting to make you guys look bad!
GMC might as well be selling 2030 models. They can “say” anything they want to grab attention. They are not even filling orders placed from previous years. Like the Chevy express 2500 extended 8cyl cargo van that I ordered April 30 2021 !!!!!! Can you please update us on previous orders. I call GM and all they can tell me is the order has been accepted.
Still the BEST van out there. Simple, reliable, durable, and PROVEN. I would like to see a 2027 GMC version also but don’t make it so bad it becomes a 2027 Aversion. A V-6 or inline diesel and you have a van that can run for 20 years or more with little done but maintenance.
