GMC Models Ventilated Seat Blower Motor Retrofits Under Way

GM has issued a service bulletin for a ventilated seat blower motor retrofit on three more GMC products, including the GMC Sierra HD, GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL. Previously, there was only one GMC model that could receive the retrofit, the 2022 and 2023 GMC Acadia.

The problem: affected units were built without ventilated seat blower motors, and can be identified by RPO code 04O. This constraint was due to the semiconductor chip shortage, where affected vehicles were built after March 30th, 2022.

The fix: certified GM technicians will be instructed to remove the non-functioning seat cushion ventilation blower and replace it with a functional unit. Some vehicles may also require the heated/ventilated seat retrofit performed beforehand. This program will be in effect until February 28th, 2026.

Affected components: ventilated seat blower motor.

Affected vehicles: all the GM vehicles listed below.

Number of affected vehicles: it’s unclear at this time how many vehicle units are affected by this issue in total.

Owners should: sources close to the matter tell GM Authority that dealers are now contacting owners whose vehicles were affected by the ventilated seat blower motor constraint in order to receive a free retrofit.

  1. This is good news. I got the letter last week for our Yukon. Let s hope that GM will enable soon the parking sensors too.

For what it worth, IMO this strategy was the right thing to do from GM.

    1. I would agree with you if they weren’t installing them in the 2023s and leaving us with 2022s purchased over a year ago without.
