GMC Hummer EV Pickups Spotted In Flint Parking Lot

Per previous GM Authority coverage, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup was recalled related to water getting into the battery packs and causing a malfunction. In fact, GM was forced to order a stop-sale on the all-electric supertruck, and thus production has been paused since late November 2022. Now, some Hummer EV Pickup units were spotted parked in a parking lot away from the GM Factory Zero plant in Hamtramck.
Allegedly sitting in a fenced parking lot in Flint, Michigan, or roughly 60 miles north of the GM Factory Zero plant (née Detroit-Hamtramck plant), these Hummer EV Pickup units are likely waiting for GM to fix the battery pack sealing and be shipped out to customers. As aforementioned, production of the electric supertruck has been idled since November, with zero units built for December 2022. For those patiently waiting for their vehicles to arrive, production is expected to resume soon.
It’s worth noting that the BrightDrop Zevo 600 was involved in the same battery pack recall.
In other Hummer EV news, the 2024 Hummer EV SUV kicked off production just last month at the GM Factory Zero plant. In a similar fashion to the pickup variant, the first Hummer EV SUV units built will be Edition 1 models, which means a three-motor, 20-module powertrain, with peak output rated at 830 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of wheel torque. With a blazing 0-to-60 mph time of 3.5 second with the Watts To Freedom mode engaged, range is estimated to be more than 300 miles on a single charge.
As for structure, both Hummer EV variants ride on the wide-body version of the electric GM BT1 platform, which utilizes Ultium battery and Ultium Drive motor technologies for propulsion.
Pricing for the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 started at $105,595. However, as GM Authority reported back in October 2022, both the GMC Hummer EV SUV and Pickup are sold out for at least the next two years.

Let them be FREE !!!
Is it any wonder they believe white is one of the most popular colors when this parking lot looks like a huge snow drift of white vehicles? It is the cheapest to spray and if that is the only thing the customer can get of course they will buy it, duh!!!
Most of the white paints GM uses on Premium class vehicles s far from cheap. It has radiance enhancers, platinum metal flake and many things that give it a greater experience than just GMC White 1985.
GM back to wasting vast amounts of the earth’s natural resources to manufacture one of the earth’s most useless vehicles.
Crap mood today and seeing these behemoths aggravates my soul.
That would be true except that the Hummer EV’s white is plain GM Olympic White, from 2005. (Actually, the paint code is from 1985, it was reformulated in 2005)
White is sure not my first choice but if you’ve noticed out on the road, the Tesla, whatever the cheapest model’s called, in California I’d bet that over 85%, maybe more, are White.,
Just more garbage from the EV world!! Biden’s follies!!! A real comedy show!! Lol!!!
Every single one of them…. a waste of natural resources.
Does this picture represent the entire year’s production? 🙄
Well, the pickup and the SUV together count as 2 models. Mary can count them as part of her goal of the 25 EV models, or whatever, regardless if they function or not. They were built so they count. I’m gonna stick with my ICE Sierra diesel.
So GM has had battery issues so far with the Bolt and Hummer EV. Not just issues, but significant issues. That is concerning.
GM is in a major bind – Ultium (LG Chem) batteries are marginally better than the Bolt (LG Chem) batteries, but they’ve invested too much in them and are stuck with them for these upcoming models – If they survive the next 5 years, you’ll see 4680 adoption.
No time to engineer before selling but time to try and fix them. Is gm the least bit embarrassed?
You would think they did some water fording testing with the Hummer to pick up on issues like this prior to the start of production. The Ultium Platform battery casing is supposed to provide additional structural rigidity to the vehicle. My guess is the massive torque this vehicle can generate is probably too much for the casing the batteries are housed in and this is how the water is getting to the batteries from torque generated twisting of the battery housing. The Ultium Battery and container in this truck is just over 2900 lbs. So there are a lot of forces the battery housing has to contend with gravity, and torque/twisting probably the greatest issue.
I am going to bet it is something simpler in the manufacturing process. Miss applied sealant in the battery compartment and poorly fit removable panels can easily let water in during a heavy rain while the truck is parked.
You too can own this chore/liability/defective unit for a measly $105K. Not including the markup from the scumbag dealers. NOT a buyer!!!!
GM replaced every Bolt battery. Now the Hummers are parked for battery leaks. Lyrics being produced slowly. GM is off to a rough start with its all EV fleet goal. They will NOT pass Tesla in 2025 as Mary predicted.
They are actually still replacing the batteries in the Bolt models. We get VIN’s added a couple of times a month. 140,000 units is an awful lot of vehicles not that the Chevy Dealers can’t handle the work. Sparky our Bolt Technician has gotten the labor portion down to a science. It is getting the batteries from GM that is slowing the recall process. I am not real optimistic either about 2025. The Bolt production has been painfully slow, and they have been building that car for 7 years. For a number of months in 2022 GM was only producing 1200 per month. Finally in November they managed to build 4000. If the model is every going to be mainstream though they need to be producing upwards of 150-200K per year. They are also building a lot of fleet vehicles which further slows the retail production. Wait until those Domino’s Pizza Delivery Bolt owners see what happens to the range during the cold winter months.
They won’t catch, Ford or Hyundai either
Bolt production will take a bigger hit when the assembly plant closes down for a year to retool for the EV Silverado and Sierra.
Biggest Cadillac dealer in NE MS dropped the brand rather than be forced to spend big $ to service EV’s. Sister & brother in law going all the way to Jackson, 4 hr drive, to buy a new CT4. Recently retired nurse whose 200K mile BMW, bought new, is having electrical problems. She doesn’t want or need an SUV. Local Toyota dealer wanted $4K over MSRP for loaded Camry and said 6 month to longer wait if she ordered. CT4 is at MSRP. Very few choices left for sedans.
Can you say Lexus ES 350?
If you can stand the ugly front end and the huge repair costs just because it’s a fancy Camry.
how long before they get stolen?
More happy homes for mr+mrs mouse and so many baby’s. That’s a lot of vehicle wire to chew on! U would think water intrusion of the battery pack and motors would have been priority 1.
