GM Made Nearly 3,000 Cadillac Lyriq Units In January 202313
GM produced 2,980 units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq in January, GM Authority has learned. The revelation comes on the heels of company representatives indicating that both production and shipments are ramping up.
The nearly 3,000 Cadillac Lyriqs produced is the largest monthly production total since the model began rolling off the assembly line in March 2022. The latest monthly production figure brings the total number of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq EVs produced to 11,175 units assembled at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, which GM upgraded as part of a $2 billion investment to bring the facility up to spec for electric vehicle production.
Shipping of the Lyriq has lagged production because GM placed a quality hold to resolve teething issues in the new electric luxury crossover. The General only delivered 122 units of the Cadillac Lyriq in all of calendar 2022 as it worked on a vehicle software management update, a fix for a cracking liftgate panel, and a recall for display issues.
However, with these early quality problems resolved, shipment of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq has accelerated sharply in recent weeks. Cadillac global vice president, Rory Harvey, revealed during a recent media briefing attended by GM Authority that Lyriq shipments reached 1,000 units during the 30 days ending on Friday, February 17th.
The table below provides a more detailed look at the total number of electric vehicles produced using GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium drive motors, which currently includes two nameplates – the Cadillac Lyriq and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

At the aforementioned media briefing, Harvey also revealed that all orders placed for the Debut Edition of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will be fulfilled by the end of first quarter 2023. It is unknown at this point if GM produced any Cadillac Lyriqs for the 2023 model year except the limited Debut Edition trim.
With the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq’s scheduled final day of production on March 17th, 2023 looming, and the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq fast approaching on March 20th, 2023, GM will shift an unspecified number of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq orders over to the 2024 model year.

So they have built 11,200 units and shipped 122 plus 1000 plus maybe another 500….that is 1622 units. So they have almost 10,000 sitting somewhere in lots or fields?? Hopefully they realize you can’t keep building them faster than you ship them or you’ll evetually go broke. Still waiting for info on AWD production and real specs. 308 for RWD versus 307 for AWD doesn’t match up with any of the other mileage specs for other manufactured EVs.
Dear PDW, I agree and was going to say the exact same thing about the range for the AWD does not correlate with all other EV difference between the range of RWD vs AWD. The range for the AWD should be around 260 miles. The only thing I can think of that would justify the range of 307 miles for the AWD version would be that it must have a larger battery than the 308 mile range RWD version.
Dear GMA, please stop with these production numbers… VINS in those months that you keep saying show high production numbers do not seem to match with what you are seeing. What many of us in the Lyriq community believe is you are seeing GLOBAL NUMBERS NOT JUST US. Chinese Lyriq production has been far greater than here in the States.
I have been think the same thing. The numbers cited by GM Authority do NOT ADD UP, particularly the claim of 8,000 built last year. A GM official stated in January that 500 Lyriqs were on the lot in Spring Hill ready for delivery. So where were the other 7380 cars if not at the Spring Hill factory. I believe you are correct that the reporter has included figures from China, or else the reporter doesn’t have the facts correct.
I’m one of those folks who ordered last May. I have yet to hear of any us receiving our Lyriq. If I were to guess, which is what I believe the author of this article does, GM will build enough this quarter to deliver all the First Editions. The rest of us who ordered in May will receive 2024 model. Then the question becomes does GM honor the price we were quoted for a fully optioned Lyriq.
GM will build 100s of 23s then move to 24 model year, those pushed to 24 model year will get a $5K private offer off the 24 price.
I hope you’re correct, that seems fair.
That is because you don’t understand how to read a VIN. And seem to think the Lyriq is built on a different assembly line from the ICE cars in the shop. It is not. Hundreds of XT6, XT5, and Acadias are built for every one Lyriq.
Nice gorilla math GM. add the zero to the zero then add zero to 1 and you get 11,175 units.
All units will be on lots today.
NO upcharges from the scumbag dealers.
How many did they put into company service?
Well gm can make all those units but can’t build my freaking Z06 you would figure if your in the 1st dozen people on your states biggest seller of Corvettes you could get a car rather quickly, but NO , they give them to celebrities and YouTubers who turn around and flip them for big money . I’m Fed up with gm. Notice how their logo went from big to small they deserve the smaller insignia.
The 2023 RWD Lyriq is equipped similarly to the 2024 Luxury 3 trim, while the 2023 AWD, which has less content, is more similar to the 2024 Luxury trim. Of course, there are a few additional differences, since the 2024 models come with some equipment that wasn’t available in the 2023s, such as adaptive headlights, which only recently became legal in the U.S. And the open-pore ash trim now comes only with the optional Nappa leather interior on the Luxury 3 and Sport 3 trims.
We also ordered anAWD 2023 Lyric and I called today to the dealership who told me they were changing our order to a 2024 Lyric. I,m glad to hear that we will receive The $5K offer off the 2024 Lyric because they have raised the price of the 2024 when we expected to pay the 2023 price. Thanks for that update.
