The new 2023 Corvette Z06 very much looks at home on the racetrack. Now, this mid-engine masterpiece will lead at the pack at the 65th running of the Daytona 500, set to take place February 19th, 2023.
In celebration of the 2023 Corvette Z06’s new race-day duties, the folks at Chevrolet posted a series of images showing off the official pace car at the Daytona finish line. Covered in what GM confirmed to be Riptide Blue paint, a new hue for the 2024 model-year Corvette, and rocking the full carbon fiber aero treatment (the latter of which is included as standard with the optional Z07 Performance Package), we see this Corvette Z06 pace car is also running a large black racing stripe down the spine of the vehicle, while the doors proudly display the Daytona 500 logo and the words “Official pace Car.” Some contrasting grey was added around the rear of the vehicle.
Joining the new Corvette Z06 pace car at the finish line, we find two more Chevy models, including a Chevy Silverado 1500 RST and Chevy Camaro SS. Both models are finished in matching Riptide Blue paint, with the Silverado adorned in black badging, a black hood stripe, black 22-inch wheels, and Front 6-piston Brembo brake upgrade (RPO code 5JL) with color-matched rear calipers. Meanwhile, the Chevy Camaro SS appears to be wearing the 1LE Track Performance package.
The 65th Daytona 500 will kick off this Sunday at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach Florida as the first race of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series. NASCAR is also celebrating its 75th anniversary this weekend.

As a reminder, the 2023 Corvette Z06 features the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine for motivation, with output rated at 670 horsepower. Under the skin, the mid-engine sports car rides on the GM Y2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

And why don’t we have Corvettes in the Daytona 500 ?
Obviously I do not know the rules.
I see they listened to me and got rid of the black rear fenders! :>)
It’s a shame gm will be discontinuing Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic paint (paint code GS7).
Agree and kind of a shame getting rid of the Camaro too.
