GM Authority sources have indicated that Chevy Trax inventory levels across the U.S. continued to fall in the beginning of February 2023.
1,772 units of the Chevy Trax were on the ground at dealerships as of early February, with no additional examples of the subcompact crossover on their way as dealers across the U.S. are in sell-down mode for the outgoing generation. This translates to a 19 days supply for the Trax, meaning sufficient dealer inventory to last 19 days at the current sales pace. For context, a 60 days supply was considered normal prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chevy Trax inventory levels have been steadily falling since November 2022, where the subcompact crossover had a 22 days supply with 941 units on dealership lots. In January 2022, the Trax had a 20 days supply with 1,441 examples on the ground.
As a reminder, production of the next-gen 2024 Chevy Trax kicked off earlier this week at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea. This all-new generation boasts a great deal of updates and enhancements over the preceding model. On the exterior, the 2024 Trax is longer, lower and wider, and incorporates Chevy’s latest corporate design, which means styling cues similar to that of the Chevy Blazer.
Wheel options range from 17- to 19-inch rollers, while each trim level – LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and Activ – receive unique styling elements to help differentiate from each other.
On the inside, the entire cabin has been overhauled. This includes an eight-inch diagonal infotainment screen as standard, while an 11-inch screen is equipped on higher trim levels. Adaptive Cruise Control is available as an option for most trim levels, while Chevy Safety Assist combines six advanced safety and driver awareness tech items. The larger exterior dimensions also translate into more room in the cabin, with an extra three inches of rear legroom and 12 percent greater cargo capacity.
In regards to the powertrain specifications, the 2024 Chevy Trax is equipped with the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output is sent exclusively to the front wheels through the GM six-speed automatic transmission.
As for structure, the 2024 Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set.
Pricing for the 2024 Chevy Trax starts at $21,495, including the destination freight charge. Notably, the new Trax actually costs less than the 2022 Chevy Trax. At the top of the totem pole, the Trax 2RS and Activ trims both start at $24,995.
