Consumers are paying more heed to resale value of potential new vehicle purchases than at any other time in history, motivated by current conditions in both the new and used vehicle markets. The Chevy Silverado 2500 HD‘s receipt of the J.D. Power 2023 Canada ALG Residual Value Award is therefore potentially important news for those considering its purchase or lease.
Released on February 1st, 2023, the award highlights those vehicle models ALG’s research indicates will retain the largest portion of their MSRP over time. ALG picks the passenger vehicles likely to keep the highest percent of its MSRP over a four-year period, or three years for luxury vehicles, to win specific divisions or segments.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD placed first in the Full-size Heavy Duty Pickup category of the Residual Value Award. In order to get there, it was rigorously evaluated as one of 272 model lines considered for the award.
ALG, the residual value division of prominent research firm J.D. Power, assessed the vehicles based on “used-vehicle performance, brand outlook and product competitiveness.” It used advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence to crunch the data, and experienced analysts to sift through the results.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD was one of two Chevrolet vehicles to win the Canadian-market award this time around, the other recipient being the Chevy Corvette. Notably, the Silverado 2500 HD stands out from many other Canada ALG Residual Value Award winners because it also won the U.S. Residual Value Award for 2023.
Canadian MSRPs for the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD (with a $2,095 destination freight charge included) are as follows:
Regular Cab Long Bed | Double Cab Standard Bed | Double Cab, Long Bed | Crew Cab Standard Bed | Crew Cab Long Bed | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|

The Silverado HD nameplate will soon receive a full refresh with the upcoming 2024 Chevy Silverado HD. Start of regular production (SORP) for the new model year will kick off in February 2023.
Available in both 2500 HD and 3500 HD configurations, the 2024 Silverado HD is more powerful than the 2023 model year and features a reworked exterior with new front fascia, headlights, and grille alongside standard tow hooks on all trims. The 2024 truck will also get new wheel and tire choices and six new exterior colors.
The 2024 Silverado HD’s cockpit gets an overhaul that includes an all-new 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and 12.3-inch diagonal configurable driver information center. Technology includes updated trailering features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control (RPO code KSG) with Trailer, Enhanced Transparent Trailer, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and GCW Alert.
Other confirmed additions to the 2024 Chevy SIlverado HD’s feature list include standard IntelliBeam headlamps (RPO code TQ5), standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and rain-sensing windshield wipers (RPO code CE1).
The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD will launch with the Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country trims, but the lineup will be expanded later in 2023 with the off-road enhanced 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2. The ZR2 will include extra traction, greater ground clearance, more aggressive approach and departure angles, and plentiful skid plates, among other features.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is powered by the 6.6L L8T V8 gasoline engine as standard, while the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optional. The Silverado HD will continue being assembled at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada.
