For the 2022 model year, Silverado HD changes and updates include a small amount of very minor revisions to equipment availability.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD received minor changes and updates over the previous year. Base price of the 2023 Silverado HD increased by $1,000 across the board over the outgoing 2022 model. The truck received a price increase in November of $100 on WT and Custom trim levels and $400 on LT, LTZ, and High Country trims. The price increase includes a hike for the destination freight charge as well, which is now $100 more expensive, rising from $1,795 to $1,895. The heavy-duty pickup received yet another price increase in December of $1,000 across the board.
Last fall, GM unveiled the refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD featuring new exterior styling, an overhauled interior space, new tech features, and upgrades to the powertrain lineup. Additionally, the automaker teased the first-ever 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 forthcoming as the flagship off-roader for the Bow Tie brand’s heavy-duty pickup line.
Under the hood, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD cradles the 6.6L L8T V8 gasoline engine as standard, while the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optional. The diesel engine also boasts an improved, SAE-certified output boost to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. For 2024, both the diesel engine and the gasoline engine now connect to the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, which replaces the GM six-speed equipped mated to gasoline-powered models previously.
The 2024 Silverado HD also gets a new Midnight Edition Package, along with new standard equipment across the lineup including tow hooks, IntelliBeam headlamps, and Automatic Emergency Braking along with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the Silverado HD gets enhanced trailering features such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailer, Enhanced Transparent Trailer, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and GCW Alert. Also for 2024, the Custom trim level will be available with the Z71 Off-Road package. However, several trims will no longer offer 12-volt power outlets while still including 400-watt, 120-volt outlets.
Last month, GM Authority exclusively uncovered in-depth 2024 Chevy Silverado HD pricing information. Compared to the preceding 2023 model year, refreshed 2500 HD models are now $1,100 to $1,900 more expensive and 3500 HD models are now $1,200 to $2,000 more expensive depending on the trim level selected.
Production of the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD kicked off at the GM Flint plant in Michigan on July 18th, 2022, and at the GM Oshawa plant in Canada on September 12th, 2022. The online configurator tool is live for the 2023 Silverado HD.
Orders for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD opened on January 19th for all trim levels except the 2024 Silverado HD ZR2, which is set to launch later in the 2023 calendar year. Production of the refreshed 2024 Silverado HD is currently scheduled to start this month.
