The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Colombia saw a notable decrease in December, losing of 779 units year-over-year while also marking its second consecutive monthly decrease after the slight contraction in November. During the last two months, the Bowtie brand lost the commercial momentum it built up during most of the 2022 calendar year, when it saw seven consecutive months in the green. The drop in November and December is the result of lower inventory and a general reduction in volume in Colombia.

The drop in Chevrolet Colombia sales during December was driven by lower sales of key models such as the Chevy Onix, Tracker and Captiva. Compounded by the slump posted by the discontinued Chevy Beat, these three vehicles were primarily responsible for tipping the scales into the red during the month. Even so, each of the three aforementioned models managed to post gains for the complete calendar year, with the Onix further strengthening its position as Chevy’s most popular car in Colombia.

Meanwhile, seven other Chevy nameplates were in the green during the month, including N-Series line of commercial trucks as well as the Bowtie’s three North American-built crossovers – the Chevy Blazer, Equinox and Traverse.

Additionally, the new Chevy Bolt EUV – which was the only new Chevrolet nameplate introduced in Colombia in 2022 – registered 11 units during its fourth month on sale in the South American country.
