The Buick Envision won the 2023 Canada ALG Residual Value Award from automotive research firm J.D. Power, achieving top place in the Compact Utility segment.
J.D. Power’s official residual value division, ALG, gives the annual Award to vehicles likely to hold the biggest percentage of original MSRP over a period of several years. The research firm picks mass-market vehicles projected to hold the most value over four years, or three years for premium vehicles, using a broad set of criteria.
According to J.D. Power’s press release, factors such as “used-vehicle performance, brand outlook and product competitiveness” are given rigorous analytical consideration. This enables J.D. Power and ALG to narrow down a field of 272 models to a handful of those most likely to keep maximum value over time – including, this time around, the Buick Envision.
While the Buick Envision won the Residual Value Award for Canada, it did not win the equivalent U.S. award this year. The residual value the Envision will be retaining derives from these starting MSRPs in Canada (which include a CAD $1,995 destination freight charge):
- Preferred FWD: $38,548
- Preferred AWD: $40,948
- Essence AWD: $42,048
- Avenir AWD: $49,748
The J.D. Power 2023 Canada ALG Residual Value Award isn’t the only thumbs-up the 2023 Buick Envision has received from research organizations. Though it received no significant changes compared to the 2022 Buick Envision, the 2023 Envision also received a Consumer Reports “recommended” rating.
The 2023 Buick Envision received high marks for braking, acceleration, comfort, and driving experience, per Consumer Reports data. Overall, it was rated at 73 points out of 100. CR also ranked the Buick Envision as one of the best 33 vehicles for fitting three child seats across the second row, based on both width and seat shape.
The 2023 Envision is the third year of the compact crossover’s second generation. A mid-cycle refresh is planned for the 2024 Buick Envision, scheduled for an October 30th, 2023 start of regular production (SORP). Production of the 2023 Envision will end on October 27th, 2023.
The refreshed 2024 Buick Envision was spied by GM Authority during testing back in October 2022. New exterior styling includes design cues from both the Buick Envista, which is soon to be released in the U.S. market, and the Buick Wildcat EV concept. It will also feature a revised cabin with an enlarged infotainment screen.
As a reminder, the 2023 Buick Envision is propelled by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The crossover’s GM nine-speed automatic transmission is matched to a standard front-wheel drivetrain, while AWD is available as an option.
The 2023 Envision rides on the GM E2 platform, with production taking place exclusively at the GM Jinqiao plant in Shanghai, China.

Good buick envision win jd power
gm bought JD Power. Another gm China vehicles. So is that saying North America can’t build quality vehicles?
An absolutely amazing vehicle for the money. So, it’s easy to comprehend the acknowledgement. The residual value is comparable to any Lexus or Toyota, in my opinion. However, Buick needs to update their dealerships appearances.
i don’t know anything about the Envision but i do know here in the large city where i live i see 30 years old Buick’s every day and even older model Buick’s trucking right on down the greeway..
