General Motors has just announced that the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo hatchback will arrive in Mexico this month, two months after world debut of Chevrolet‘s new entry-level car in the Latin country.
The President and CEO of GM Mexico, Francisco Garza, revealed during a press conference that the automaker will officially launch the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo in Mexican market on February 13th, 2023, when it plans to publicly present the vehicle for the first time in the country after revealing it online with official images. The executive confirmed that the 2024 Aveo is a highly strategic model to fight for sales leadership in Mexico.
Initially, the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo will arrive in Mexico as a five-door hatchback, a new configuration for the nameplate in that country where until now, the highly popular Aveo has only been marketed as a four-door sedan in its two previous generations. As such, the 2024 Aveo hatchback will initially coexist in the country with the current Chevy Aveo/Sail sedan that is ending its production cycle.
Later, the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo’s lineup in Mexico will be completed with the new sedan variant that GM will soon officially reveal in that country, as GM Authority exclusively reported last month. Both body styles of the 2024 Aveo will complement each other to compete for the top sales spot in Mexican market in the entry-level vehicle category, which is currently dominated by the Nissan Versa/March and the Kia Rio.
For those who don’t know, the new 2024 Chevy Aveo is a state-of-the-art vehicle designed and developed by the automaker’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture in China, which will also become the next member of the Wuling brand’s global model lineup wearing the Global Silver logo. As such, it represents Chevrolet’s new entry-level car for emerging markets that will also hit some countries in Central America, South America and Africa.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo hatchback launching on February 13th is expected to immediately go on sale in Mexico, which will be the model’s top volume market worldwide. New Aveo units will arrive in Mexico imported from SGMW’s Tianjin plant in China. Details about the versions, equipment, interior design and price will be announced on the launch date.

Come on GM! Bring this little hatch for NA market asap! Change the name though.. What name would you give to this car ? Guys makes suggestions! , I’m curious!
They decided we only get freaking SUVs
it is so sad… such a pitty
It’s a GEM platform car, so not meant for US and Canada though with modifications it could be made compliant. It would be the new Sonic.
I would be happy if it came to the U.S. with a manual transmission and a “hot hatch” version.
GM is too chicken to fight Asian manufacturers!
Too afraid, and it is sad.
indeed, great idea!
