ACS Composite has announced a new undertray system for the Chevy Corvette C8 Stingray that’s designed to provide both enhanced underbody protection and cleaner aerodynamics, all with a simple bolt-on installation that an enthusiast can do at home.
The new ACS Composite undertray system is made from the company’s proprietary PC Composite material, which boasts high strength and durability to protect the underside of the Corvette C8 Stingray from scratches and scuffs. The undertray is compatible with ACS Composite’s 1VM, 5VM, and 7VM front splitter options, as well as the OEM 5VM front splitter.
The design also incorporates optional scrape guards that are available for installation along the undertray for added protection in the event that the splitter bottoms out. The scrape guards can be quickly removed and replaced, thus extending the life of the underbody protection system.
As for the aero benefits, the ACS Composite undertray system mounts underneath the company’s splitters, thus providing a flat bottom that remains parallel to the ground and bridges the gap between the front splitter and the rest of the underbody. The whole thing is also reinforced to handle the rigors of performance driving.
“So what this does, it gives you tremendous aero benefits at high speed and basically resistance to any scrapes,” says ACS Composite co-owner Joseph Taverna.
As for installation, the undertray is a bolt-in system that can easily be done by an enthusiast in their driveway using basic tools. Check out the video below for a walkthrough on the installation process:
The new ACS Composite undertray system for the C8 Corvette Stingray is priced at $899, per the ACS Composite website.
As a reminder, the C8 Corvette Stingray features the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine for motivation, which is rated at 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Under the skin, the C8 Corvette rides on the GM Y2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.
