Back in September 2022, Subaru officially revealed the third-generation Crosstrek for the Japanese market. Set to begin arriving on dealership lots sometime in Spring 2023, the North American-spec 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has been unveiled, and will serve as a direct competitor to the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer when it arrives.
Carrying on its predecessor’s all-terrain focus, the 2024 Crosstrek will only be available with Subaru’s signature Symmetrical AWD (Japanese-spec models have FWD as an option), and will offer two powerplants. These engine choices include the standard 2.0L F4 gasoline engine, rated at 152 horsepower, and the optional 2.5L F4 gasoline engine, rated at 182 horsepower. The manual transmission from the preceding generation has been dropped, leaving a continuously variable automatic transmission as the sole option.
What sets the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek apart from its Impreza counterpart is the additional ground clearance. The upcoming Subie will feature almost nine inches of ground clearance and the availability of the X-MODE with Hill Descent Control drive setting.
On the technology side, the 2024 Crosstrek features an available 11.6-inch infotainment screen, with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also available. Some technology packages worth noting include the standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which features traffic monitoring, Automatic Pre-Collision braking, Automatic Emergency Steering and Adaptive Cruise Control. In regards to safety, the 2024 Crosstrek will also feature Blind-Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and available Reverse Automatic Braking.
As aforementioned, the upcoming 2024 Chevy Trailblazer will serve as a rival to the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. Refreshed for the 2024 model year, the Trailblazer is part of GM’s two-pronged approach to the subcompact crossover space. The 2024 Trax is intended for customers that want the practicality of a sedan and the versatility of a utility vehicle, while the AWD and taller ride height of the Trailblazer is for customers who want the ability to perform some light off-roading adventures.
Under the hood, the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer will be available with two engine options. These powerplant choices include the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, rated at 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The 1.2L LIH will be mated to GM’s continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while the 1.3L L3T will be mated to either the CVT the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.
Production of the revised 2024 Trailblazer is currently scheduled to commence in July 2023, where North American-bound units will be manufactured at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea. The first examples will begin arriving on dealership lots in Fall 2023.
