2024 GMC Sierra HD Gets Standard Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

The refreshed and updated 2024 GMC Sierra HD will receive standard Wireless Phone Projection (RPO code PPW) for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across all trim levels, GM Authority has learned. Both 2500 HD and 3500 HD series trucks will now get wireless CarPlay and Android Auto as a standard feature.

The base Pro trim level of the 2024 GMC Sierra HD is outfitted with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system (RPO code IOR), which includes a seven-inch touchscreen.

All other trim levels of the truck, including SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate, now receive a standard Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system (RPO code IOK) with Google built-in and a standard 13.4-inch touchscreen.

Adding wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to all 2024 GMC Sierra HD trims is an update from the 2023 GMC Sierra HD. For the 2023 model year, GM offered the feature as standard only on the SLT, AT4, and Denali trim levels. Wireless phone projection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto was unavailable on the base Pro trim, and available on the SLE trim only as part of either the Preferred Package (RPO code PDQ) or the ProGrade Trailering System (ZL6).

The GMC Sierra HD refresh for the 2024 model year includes not only the new wireless feature, but fresh exterior styling, a new interior on most trim levels, a revised trim level lineup, and an updated powertrain. The truck’s exterior gets a reworked front bumper, fascia, and grille plus six new paint colors. The cockpit gets a unique interior treatment for SLE and SLT trim levels, as well as a premium interior design for the AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims.

The list of 2024 GMC Sierra HD updates doesn’t end there. While the familiar column shifter carries over because customers prefer more console space, the truck is getting the Global B electronic architecture to support improved infotainment, user interface, and communications, among other functions.

The 2024 GMC Sierra HD gets a new active safety feature with the addition of Adaptive Cruise Control (RPO code KSG). Trailering tech is updated with the all-new GCW Alert, which monitors gross combination weight while towing. Finally, the 2023 model year’s Denali Ultimate Package becomes the Denali Reserve Package (RPO code PEC), an optional extra for the “regular” Denali containing the following elements (with RPO codes in parentheses) that are standard in the Denali Ultimate trim:

  • Rear Camera Mirror (DRZ)
  • Multicolor 15-inch Diagonal Head-Up Display (UV6)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG)
  • Power sunroof (CF5)

Last December, GM Authority exclusively learned that the start of regular production (SORP) for the eagerly anticipated 2024 GMC Sierra HD will start in February for most trims. However, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X trim GM added to the heavy-duty truck’s lineup will be released later in calendar year 2023.

As a reminder, the GMC Sierra HD AT4X offers even more off-road capability above and beyond that of the AT4. Dark trim, red tow hooks, and plentiful AT4X badges will likely be paired with front and rear e-lockers, increased ride height, and Multimatic DSSV dampers.

Pricing for the 2024 GMC Sierra HD will range from $46,295 for the base 2WD 2500 HD Pro to $100,695 MSRP for the 4WD 3500 HD Denali Ultimate. The destination freight charge of $1,895 is included in these prices.

  2. So when will a potential customer be able to spec a 2024 on the GMC web site??? I can spec a 2022 or a 2023, even though orders for 2022 models ended in November.

  3. Seems like GMC is pricing themselves out of the current market for 3500 HD truck. Better offer some big discounts and friendly financing terms!
