The 2024 Chevy Trax is set to introduce the next generation for the Bow Tie’s subcompact crossover, featuring an all-new exterior and interior, along with an updated architecture and powertrain. Even with production kicking off this month, GM is still testing some units. Having brought our readers live photos of a black Trax 2RS, a white Trax LS, and a white Trax Activ, GM Authority photographers have now captured another 2024 Trax undergoing validation testing.
This particular unit is painted in Crimson Metallic paint (color code GFM) and outfitted in the range-topping Activ trim level.
Up front, we see the LED daytime running lights (RPO code T7E) and LED headlamps (T4L), in the same dual-layer headlight arrangement found on other recently introduced Chevy products, such as the Blazer, Trailblazer and Traverse crossovers. Furthermore, a black Chevy Bow Tie sits proudly front-and-center, while this example sports a body-colored grille insert, a unique appointment reserved for the Activ trim.
Moving around to the side, we see high gloss black mirror caps (EWE) and black roof rails (V59), as well as body-colored door handles. As for rollers, this Trax is sporting 18-inch Black-painted aluminum wheels (RSZ), which are covered in 225/55R18 all-season tires (QAI).
Out back, we see the roof-mounted antenna, another center-mounted black Bow Tie, as well as taillights with forward-facing horizontal spears. Faux vents are positioned below said taillights, while a chrome rear bumper treatment adds a touch of visual appeal.
Finally, the exhaust tip is tucked under the rear bumper so as not to be visible.
As previously mentioned, the 2024 Chevy Trax represents the first model year of the second generation of the compact crossover. As such, the new Trax has bigger exterior proportions than its predecessor, which leads to three additional inches of rear legroom and a 12 percent increase in cargo capacity.
In regards to tech, LS and 1RS trims are equipped with an eight-inch diagonal infotainment screen as standard, while LT, 2RS, and Activ trims are standard with an 11-inch screen. Furthermore, the all-new Trax receives other goodies like Active Noise Cancelation and cruise control. Adaptive Cruise Control is offered on most trims, including the Activ.
As for powertrain, every 2024 Chevy Trax is powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output is directed through the GM six-speed automatic transmission and put to the ground exclusively through the front wheels, as no AWD option will be offered.
