2024 Cadillac Lyriq Range Revised To 308 Miles

Driving range for the rear-wheel-drive 2024 Cadillac Lyriq has been revised to 308 miles, GM Authority has learned, giving it a slightly shorter range rating than the previous model-year vehicle with the same drivetrain configuration. The RWD 2023 Cadillac Lyriq was rated to travel an estimated maximum of 312 miles on a single charge.
Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive configuration the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq has been rated at a per-charge range of 307 miles, according to GM. Neither the EPA nor Cadillac itself has published a range estimate for the AWD 2023 Lyriq at this time, and it’s unclear right now if any 2023 model-year Lyriq AWD units will actually be produced.
GM is shifting an unspecified number of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq orders to the 2024 model year instead after lengthy production delays. Cadillac paused production and delivery to correct several quality issues discovered in the first-ever model year of the new electric vehicle. Customers with an order for 2023 model will receive an incentive to switch it over to the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq.
Because of this, it appears possible 2023 model-year Lyriq production consisted exclusively of Debut Edition units equipped with a rear-wheel drivetrain and a single electric motor producing 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Those orders are slated to be fulfilled by the end of Q1 2023.
Cadillac’s global vice president Rory Harvey recently stated during a media briefing that approximately 1,000 units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq shipped during the 30 days ending on Friday, February 17th, 2023. GM Authority exclusively reported that March 17th, 2023 will be the final day of production for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, while 2024 Cadillac Lyriq start of regular production (SORP) is scheduled for March 20th, 2023.
Full pricing for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, including options and packages, was previously uncovered by GM Authority. In overview, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq starts $58,590 with the release off the new-for-2024 Tech base trim level. The 2024 Luxury trim starts at $62,690, while the Sport trim starts at $63,190. The most-expensive 2024 Cadillac Lyriq model on offer is the Sport 3 trim with all-wheel drive, starting at $74,590 MSRP.

Kinda what I thought….debut edition still not filled so they will continue to be built until 2024 model year rolls out. I doubt there will be any actual 2023 models produced…except those slated for the debut edition since there is less than 1 month left before the 2024 MY is supposed to start. I have a 2023 MY signed contract so I’m wondering how that will be handled since I haven’t heard anything from my dealership.
I also think it is true that no AWD models will be produced now until the 2024 MY opens up and that probably won’t even happen at the start of production. So maybe in May they actually make an AWD vehicle on the line…and given their 100 day delivery schedule..we may actually see an AWD vehicle in August 2023. i have not seen any AWD unit for sale at any dealership or any car website…which seems to confirm none have been made for the public. Pretty hard to really state a range for the AWD since they may only have a couple of pre-production models that may not even be the final AWD product.
Meanwhille…I’m still looking at other EVs as more are more being released by other manufacturers within this time frame. I want a range of 300+ or else I do not want it.
You can tell, there are a lot GM Lover here, 2 Up, 5 Down vote.
I totally agree with you.
The unability to produce inventory before launch is such as mess.
GM, Hyundai’s, Toyota, they are are trying lock in customers when Tesla is quite frankly stole the EV market.
They allow reservation, but then fail to deliver in time, it just make customer flock away and goes somewhere else.
I never own an GM, so, I am not loyal to this brand.
I only see how ridiculous GM roll out new model is.
delay after delay, no pricing updates.
Hi Bert, I agree with you. We had been GM fans for many years and were really looking forward to buying the Lyriq. However, when we tried to reserve a debut edition Lyriq the first second reservations opened in 2021 we were too late. We later found out that there were only 20,000 debut edition 2023 models available. Then, they had the nerve to start a big advertizing campign for the Lyriq during the 2022 Super bowl when you could not even buy one for another year!!! Outragously stupid. But Kia also advertized their EV6 during the same Super Bowl and we bought one just 1-1/2 months later in a nice matallic Runway Red color with a 310 mile range. We have even taken our EV6 on a trip to Yosemite and loved it. It chages much faster than the Lyriq on a 350kW Electrify America station and it really does charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes because of it’s G-EMP architecture, which runs at 800v compared to the old Lyriq GM Ultium technology of 400v and Tesla’s old slow 250Kw charging technology. It’s much quieter than smoother riding than the Tesla Model Y too.
Feels like GM is on its own pace. Their EV marketing is at its worst.
Hopefully, they will catch up in the future;
Your example is excellent, the Korean EV is good example of offering a real product to the consummer in a reasonable time. And not, market, have the customer wait 1 year, 1.5year before seeing a car being delivered is just pain. AWD, Super cruise and on.
They better sell the same model for 8 years before they can recapitualize the investments.
Then, you look at the korean, they frequently change their mid-cycles, how is that is possible and that they still sell well?
Inability not unability. Jeeze.
“Unability” is a word and it was used properly by Bert. “The relation between “unability” and “inability” is that both words mean the same. “Inability” is the quality of being incapable; lack of ability; lack of sufficient power, strength, or capacity. “Unability” is a synonym for inability; the only difference is that it is a word that has become obsolete.” source: The Content Authority.
It’s not a grammatical crime to use words that may now be considered obsolete. However, it is a crime to correct someone for using what many consider an obsolete word, because if it is used than it no long is obsolete. Grammer is ever changing. Where are the grammer police, an arrest is in order. 😉
The release here is being paced for several reasons. GM is trying to match the market and sell these as they go and letting it grow. No sense building a ton of these sitting around as it would not look good.
Also with a new tech like this they are trying to make sure they get it right as problems can label new EV products as they come. Just look at Ford paying the price on the Lighting that was rushed out and now fire issues on batteries before they leave the plant. Not good PR.
The EV is going to be a tough sell but it is one all MFGs will be facing. Those who get it right will benefit and those who fail will have to rebuild their reputation.
Right now GM does not live or die on these models so they can take their time for when it does count in the future.
GM is trying to avoid those new product issues they were famed for with these models.
They “ramped up” from 36 deliveries in 3rd quarter of last year, to 86 in the 4th quarter of last year. Now that’s what i call progress over 6 months! Its good to hear that this is “being paced” by design in order to “match the market”, as you said, no sense buidling too many and have them “sitting around”… That Mary Barra, she’s a real genius in committing her company to going all electric where anything over 30 cars PER MONTH would be over saturating the market… I do have one question for you though: What is it like being the chief product sampler at the Kool Aid factory?
Gm is dragging their feet. They still have one of the most profitable gas segments, and are doing this electric thing for two reasons, government subsidies which we can see how she kissed every presidents butt and know she’s kissing Biden’s too, and to not be left behind, needing to rush later on. They know this whole “electric revolution” isn’t as big as people make it out to be, so their taking their time to have all the pieces in place, to do this right.
I prefer to call a spade a spade. If you launch a vehicle that is not ready and have to stop shipping customer orders, that is called a botched launch. You talk about F150 fires? Have you forgotten the Bolt? You don’t mention the Mustang EV which sold more units than gm’s four EVs combined, even though Mary has been making EV promises for years. So far those promises have been all hot air.
We the customers need to hold gm accountable for their incompetence these last few years.
Just look to the two highest volume, highest profit lines launched within the last few years.
Full size SUVs. Had to be pushed back a year, because the new Expedition was far ahead of the gm units. Who approved their initial mediocrity?
Full size trucks. Ram blew the doors off the new Silverado (launched the same year) and passed it in sales for the first time. gm had to rush a major interior change to try to catch up. Who approved the initial mediocrity?
Reno is spouting truth today.
They admitted they got caught when Ram introduced the new 1500 in the summer. Lowercase gm rushed the Silverado to market putting the interior on hold. At least they admitted it, though it was a huge mistake. Maybe they need to go back to uppercase GM and start acting like an uppercase company.
Yet the TFL long term EV GMC Hummer seems to be full of problems and bricks itself whenever it wants too….
I guess that roll out needed to be slower to?
Good luck on getting this car the same year as the car.
It does look good in red, first non-silver one I’ve seen.
I still say, and anyone can debate me if you want to…..
If they just offered this same car with a gas 3.6 V6 in it for $55K, you would be having fist fights at the dealerships over them, but instead they wasted it on this pie in the sky electric bs and sold a handful of them instead.
Meanwhile we get new headlights on the 5th? 7th place in sales? maybe lower? XT4 and they call it a day……woo hoo.
Go Mary…..
GM doesn’t care,. they only customer they are trying to please is the government……
Why did they debut the car in that drab silver-gray? It looks completely different in red. I’ll bet there isn’t a medium blue or green or other interesting color available.
There is a blue-green one in the article actually, it looks pretty good to.
I saw it. It’s very dark (perhaps it’s the photo/computer rendering).
2021 advertising started.. 2023 and still no AWD being made…. Probably less than 200 RWD in actual public hands right now… I would call that a major flop for any car model. I have never seen a single unit driving on the road as of Feb 24, 2023
Today is February 23rd though, you living in the future trying to make your failed point? This is why posts need to be taken with a grain of salt.
Should I order the 19.2 KW capable on board charger for the ALL WHEEL DRIVE MODEL, I HAVE A 2014 ELR and a BOSCH power express charge station output amps of 32 a max. 240vac single -phase , level 2, do I need a new charger with more amps 2024 cadillac lyriq .
Hi Joe M, You really do not need the 19.2 kW charger option on the Lyriq. Your current 32 amp Bosch charger will charge the Lyriq at 7.7kW from 10% to 100% in about 13 hours. Even if you upgrade your charger to a 48 amp / 11.5kW, which is the maximum the standard Lyriq can charge, it would charge the Lyriq from 10% to 100% in 9 hours, not much faster. And if you go for the 19.2kW charger option on the Lyriq and upgrade your home charger to a 64 amp 15.4kW it would take about 8 hours to charge from 10% to 100%. Then if you want to spend a fortune you can buy a 80 amp 19.2kW charger that would charge the 19.2kW Lyriq in about 6 hours. Remember, charging slows once you go above 80% charge, so you really are not gaining much speed with the more powerful charging speeds. Also, you really don’t want to charge to 100% every day which would reduce the life of the battery. So charging from 10% to 90% with your current 32 amp charger would only take about 11 hours. It really depends on your needs and how many miles you drive each day.
thank you very much, you just saved me about $ 3000.00
I have to say, I was expecting a range for the Lyriq RWD of at least 360 miles in order to compeat with Tesla. A 308 mile range is a HUGE disappointment, especially for such a huge 102kW battery running on a single RWD motor. Tesla’s Model Y/X AWD gets 330/333 miles. If GM truely wants to compeat with Tesla, the Lyriq’s range should have been 360 miles for the RWD and around 330 miles for the AWD. GM has really fallen short of my expectations. 🙁
I suspect they can’t get as much power from the battery volume because they used less expensive/rare materials.
What I don’t understand is that the information the ‘media’ has is not the information being given at large Caddy dealerships.
My dealer informs me that my blue, now forcibly changed to black, 2023 year , Luxury trim, Lyriq will be built exactly like that mid April.
Or, has vp Rory put the Kibosh on the whole thing?
I would be embarrassed at all this talk about Luxury Trims, Pricing, and availability if, like little kids, it’s just all talk and not a single 2023 Luxury Trim will ever exist.
Vaporware.
I seriously wonder if I should just convert my LYRIQ order to a 2023 Chevy bolt euv to get the sales tax discount.
