2023 GMC Terrain Gets New Sterling Metallic Color: First Look

The 2023 GMC Terrain adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Deep Bronze Metallic, and Sterling Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Sterling hue.

Assigned RPO code GXD and touch-up paint code WA-130H, Sterling Metallic is one of eight exterior colors offered on the compact crossover, which include:

  • White Frost Tricoat
  • Summit White
  • Ebony Twilight Metallic
  • Marine Metallic
  • Desert Sand Metallic
  • Deep Bronze Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Sterling Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)

The Sterling Metallic color is an extra-cost option priced at $495. It is available on all trim levels and can be combined with all available interior colorways.

For reference, here are the three available interior colorways offered on the 2023 Terrain:

  • Jet Black (all trims)
  • Medium Ash Gray/Jet Black (SLE and SLT only)
  • Light Platinum/Dark Galvanized (Denali only)

The 2023 GMC Terrain introduces a few critical changes and updates as compared to the fully refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain. Some of the headlining updates include a new engine, which is the new turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, along with an e-boost braking system. The changes were accompanied by a price increase.

Like all units of the second-generation Terrain, the 2023 Terrain rides on the GM D2 platform. The LSD engine, the only powertrain offered in the vehicle, is rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is standard, with all-wheel-drive optional on SLE and SLT trim levels and standard on AT4 and Denali.

Production for the 2023 Terrain commenced at the GM San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico on August 22nd, 2022. The online configurator tool is now live for the 2023 Terrain.

  2. Sterling silver decent looking but looks best in black specially on Denali trim now only if they can put the 2.0 l in the Denali trim and make it professional grade again !!!

  3. I have a 2022 Terrain Denali in Ebony Twilight Metallic with two years left on my lease. I sure hope that by 2024 I will be able to choose from a completely redesigned Terrain, as this is already my second Terrain from this current generation.

    1. People do waste your time in the terrain as it is really Under powered. It is competitive with low end subs. Test drive a Hyundai, kia, Mazda, Toyota and you well feel and see the difference

  5. I have the 2023 terrain denali and love the sterling metallic colour. This is my fifth terrain which I am enjoying other than the sluggish engine(1.5) The 2018 + 2020 had the 2.0 engine was smooth and unlimited power. I’m hoping 2025 have some more engine options especially when paying a premium for the denali upgrade.

  6. Would like to see how many they can make of this color each week. The Chevy 24 hd trucks come on sterling grey metallic and they only make like 20 a week nation wide so. Don’t plan on being able to order one. I have tried for 4 weeks and my dealership has yet to get an allotment for this color.
